It wants to be hardcore PvP game so good luck with that (New World pivoted hard after receiving the feedback). Either they will release like that and devolve into a niche game controlled by sweatlords and bots or they will bulge and move towards "single player experience with shared world"

That's a common misconception. I thought the same and initially brushed it off, but despite having a lot of focus on PvP they're not neglecting the other aspects of the game which is typically where a lot of PvP focused MMO's have stumbled. A lot of the systems are built in such a way as to feed into one another as well.

It's hard to say which the next MMO to capture lightning in a bottle will be but at some point one will. It's just a matter of when.

I'm not really sure why it's so difficult to understand that some people are enjoying the game and some are not. I've been enjoying Endwalker immensely. The patches so far have been okay. There are parts of 6.x I am not a fan of. I don't have expectations one way or another for 7.0. I'm just gonna watch and see what we get. I like MSQ. I like raiding with my static. I like taking gposes and designing my apartment and replaying MSQ on new characters. I even like grinding for achievements, old relics, and Eureka/Bozja. I am satisfied. I am not left wanting on many levels at all. That doesn't mean I'm just trying to "cope". I have nothing I feel a need to "cope" with.

SE has sold off all of their non Japanese assets and is virtually silent right now, I believe the rumors are true about Sony buying SE and that will signal a significant shift in the company. I’m expecting a bigger push for mobile or cheaper, more frequent games for the PS5. That would explain why this game is mostly in maintenance already.

You're assuming the majority of the player base is unhappy with the game. We don't really have any evidence to support that.

I agree that anyone currently unhappy with the state of the current day would be better off unsubbing from the game for now. Next year when 7.0 is close to release, those who have unsubbed can then review all the information shared at the FanFests, game conventions, interviews, etc. to decide if they want to give the game another try.

For now, we really don't know because we have no information about the content plans for next expansion.

If you don't like the game at all, unironically save yourself the money and quit now because at this point this game is irredeemable. There's literally no point in waiting for 7.0 to fix anything. Spoiler: they won't. Only reason to stick to this game is for secondary, non-game purposes.

Let me just spoil the ending for all of you: FF14 is going to start failing, slowly, Square Enix is going to put this on maintenance mode in like 8.0 or 9.0 or something, maybe they'll try to revitalize it but fail.

CBU3 has like literally no idea how to make interesting progression systems, there is not a single exploratory content or horizontal content that succeeded with the entire playerbase. They just don't know how. They also fired some devs and leads who disagreed with the vision of the game (rumor), clearly they're not open to feedback either. So don't huff the copium really, no need to wait for 7.0. It's already over.

I play this game to chat with people and socialize. Couldn't care less about the game.

Ok, this are the lowest deepths of the game since re-lauch.
But maintenance mode and new graphic engine are a paradox you cannot solve. It's ilogical to think we are in maintenance with such work ahead.
