Though I think they should strive to do both (by both I mean have previous bestiary enhancements and a new bestiary created), we still need to account for influences and styles. Each franchise will always have a particular influence, and each company will always have a certain style and influence. Like, how many people would expect Atlus to do something completely different with their main SMT franchise or its spin-offs?
@OP:
I did. See this thread from the General Discussion of that other Final Fantasy MMO. Keep your WoW knock-off. I'm going back to real gaming.
My signature is edible. Go ahead, try some.

There are alot of things they could incorporate from XI - but I'd still like to see them take a more original route with XIV.
I'm not opposed to anything Pre Abyssea content wise appearing in XIV, I kind of agree with the OP though - if you want a straight copy and paste of content from XI then you really should have stuck with it - but it's not gotten any better at 99 and I doubt unless they have a radical overhaul and stop spoon feeding people then it's not goin to get any better, I left XI because it got boring, XIV is actually headed in a nice direction now, it doesn't need to be tarred with some of the same stigma sorrounding XI

I get the feeling you aren't going to get what you want ../sadpandafaceI want 2.0 launch to wake up, in an alternate world, with no memories, no skills, a wand at my side, the knowledge that I'm a "white mage", a level 1 cure spell, and nothing more. I want to go out and kill worms and bee's, then wander to town and go to the magic shop, with a person who says they'll sell me a spell that allows me to increase my physical defense. I ask "sell??" and hte lady says yes, you have to read the incantations and memorize the words if you want to be able to cast it, you can't just suddenly "know" something. Then I want to wander through huge areas, get killed by beastmen called quadav's, get to this beachy place with a little port town on it, where I can join up with other people to form a party. Then, when our fighting power is combined, we can take on more difficult monsters!
So, 2.0 I want a whole new game, that is almost a cookie cutter of my previous favorite game, with updated graphics, areas, content, spells, abilities, quests, and so on.
Also I'd like slower combat. Tearing through piles of monsters 3-5 at a time, meh. I like a camp, puller, tank, healer, and dps. 2 tank and 2 healer classes and 14 dps classes makes sense if your party of 6 has 1 healer, 1 tank, and 4 dps.
@ Pim-ptarutaruOdin yea I do agree, but FF11 goblins are awesome in all sorts of ways.
FF12 mandragora's were a rip off of 11 mandragora's and they are awesome also, I would very much like to see them added to 14.
I would also like to see Crawlers make a come back, I think enemy design is the one thing I don't mind being brought over from 11.

Bravo sir... Bravo...(slow clap...)What I want to see is a world with as much depth and style as XI's. I want long challenging storylines. I want to be overtaken by the lore and history of the land. I want to meet charismatic and crazy characters with a purpose. I want to travel ancient ruins and uncover lost artifacts. I want to come to a point where taking a visit to Eorzea would have as much draw as a visit to Vana'diel. Sights, sounds, people, culture. Let's make it happen Yoshi.
I am still waiting for my expansion "The Shifting Sands of Altepa: The Tale of the Tailkeeper", which is all about how the Galka lost their empire to Global Warming & Ants... how they eventually lost their ability to Reincarnate along with their tails...and how they came to inhabit Eorzea.
The Tailkeeper was a pirate from Norg, although he was known as the Ale-Keeper back then. He was a Master Brewer of Ales by trade but a fierce Warrior/Samurai when brawn was needed over beer. He was proficient in many Arts of War & Magic and could perform (admirably) many tasks and jobs but what he loved to do the most (after a few tankards of ale) was to perform with his puppet.
The Ale-Keeper and his puppet Quenotte entertained their fellow Pirates and Black Market shopkeepers with dances re-creatng glorious battles and deeds of valor from conquests both recent and legendary. The proud Galka was often teased about his predilections towards dance, puppetry and general buffoonary (like hula-dancing with a diremite for a skirt) but it was all in good fun...until one fateful night... (to be continued?)
Papa was a rolling stone...wherever he laid his barbut was home.
I would liquidate ALL my mithra salve girls to fund this! You should check out the link below as well. We appear to be like minded.Bravo sir... Bravo...(slow clap...)

How much is raw protein go for these days anyways?
~~~DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW FAST YOU WERE SCROLLING?~~~Don't forget to check out the Tail Option Thread. Vote for a brighter future for all Roegadyns!
Some of the default jobs of XIV just, well, don't flow. Id rather see THM and CNJ combined into a Scholar type, with full elemental contraol and shift to healing modes. THen keep pure whm Blms. THen possibly brign back Green Mage.
If you get your galka tale then they need to do the Lalafell tale. How Taru Mated with hume's to= WTF!
Now we all know if Taru's mated with Elvens they would be Elru's and a superior race of both magic and strength.
