What's the point with that quite lackluster story in Endwalker?

Yeah. Whatever they want to happen, they'll make happen whether it aligns with the rules they've laid down already or not.

At any rate, it's roughly a week until we get some indication as to where 7.0 is due to take place. I'm very curious to see if the next expansion is truly covering new ground or if it just picks at established plot threads. If it's the latter, then that'll simply beg the question as to why they were so eager to do away with the logical trajectory of territory to cover before they moved further afield.

My personal dream would be an Ivalice inspired expansion, though that's probably unlikely.

I'd love it if they'd make the Ivalice alliance series and maybe Pandaemonium required for MSQ so they could do an Ivalice expansion that expands on the concepts introduced in those stories. Imo all raid/trial series should be required anyways.
