What's the point with that quite lackluster story in Endwalker?

I feel like they desperately need to introduce some kind of new long-term plot hook, because I don't think making a transition to completely self-contained stories for future expansions is going work out well given all the post-patch story that has to be considered.

The only thing that really springs to mind is the state of "natural" rejoining hypothesized by Y'shtola resuming now that Hydaelyn is gone and we have to deal with the unpredictable consequences of such over the next future expansions before ultimately finding a way to stop it before the shards and the Source as we know are toast.

I still thinking merging the 1st and 13th would make for an incredible expansion, giving us more map zones on the 1st while opening up the entirety of the 13th's map for exploration.

Balance is everything, and those who are currently polar opposites. Imagine taking Eden to the 13th or sending Zeromus to the 1st!

While it would undoubtedlymake for cool expansion, the physics of the world as described would mean that 13th and 1st are actually LEAST likely to have even a chance at rejoining because of polar opposition. Calamities that caused rejoinings with the Source were all done by upsetting balance towards SAME element in both Source and the Shard.

Yeah. Whatever they want to happen, they'll make happen whether it aligns with the rules they've laid down already or not.

At any rate, it's roughly a week until we get some indication as to where 7.0 is due to take place. I'm very curious to see if the next expansion is truly covering new ground or if it just picks at established plot threads. If it's the latter, then that'll simply beg the question as to why they were so eager to do away with the logical trajectory of territory to cover before they moved further afield.

My personal dream would be an Ivalice inspired expansion, though that's probably unlikely.

I'd love it if they'd make the Ivalice alliance series and maybe Pandaemonium required for MSQ so they could do an Ivalice expansion that expands on the concepts introduced in those stories. Imo all raid/trial series should be required anyways.

Still the best they've made so far but I am biased because I love Matsuno's world-building. If he were to fully build up a world for an MMO I'd be there in a heartbeat.

As I have said before and will reiterate I am thrilled someone took up the mantle of looking at the story with a critical lens and started making videos about it. I admit it can start to feel like insanity when you just see constant praise and never see any form of negative response other then the "community approved" ones like Stormblood being bad or Lyse being boring. I am so very grateful that I found this thread and I am happy to see it still kicks around to this day.
