Saying you have the "free to do any duty!" is rather disingenuous when the tome rewards from various activities are widely disproportionate to the investment. Case in point, re-clearing all five (including door boss) Savage fights nets me a measly 120 uncapped tomes for a considerably greater amount of effort than hopping on a hunt train and getting 240 or more depending on instances. So while, yes, I can technically do whatever 90 content I want. There are very clearly superior options.

Putting all that aside, this is still two sides of the same extreme. Nobody is denying having to farm 60 Garuda Hard Modes or running Rabnastre 20 times wasn't a drag. How about we simply demand better on either side of the coin from a ten year running game that prints money? Say what you will about Eureka and Bozja but they were at least different, especially with the addition of Logos actions. BA and DR were equally unique, going so far as to add bonuses in the case of the former. Why not expand on that further and iron out some of the criticisms people had to make something actually worthwhile to invest in for longer than a weekend?

At the end of the day, it simply feels bad to a lot of people that they can literally complete the relic "step" before the patch even releases because they already had 2,000 tomes prior to the patch releasing. In other words, it's no different than if they logged in and received a mogmail asking them to choose a free weapon.
