My compliments to the designers of the new Variant Dungeon

PSA, the minion is just black hayate with a bigger scarf. My poor friend got it and used it and we compared the two, thinking surely it was just a similar thumbnail, but nah. Same model and everything. So if you've obtained it and you're debating keeping or selling, you probably already own it and don't even know. Pic below is the new minion (right) and the old black hayate that's been in the game since shadowbringers (left).

First boss being the same NIN raen no matter which path (left middle right) you pick was also kinda disappointing. She has like 1 changed mechanic and that's it. So rerunning through the dungeon just feels like it's all the same until you hit the final boss. As someone who loved the first variant dungeon, maybe it was the novelty factor but I just had more fun in the first one and don't feel an urge to go back and do this new one now that I've seen the first 3 bosses. I will agree on the OP's assessment of the visual appeal though. The zone is very pretty. And the final bosses aren't even bad. All I'd change is maybe make the first boss something different in each path, and put some effort into the minion.

edit: Also just bought the new book emote from the v&c shop and it does not loop, for anyone wondering. It goes for 3ish seconds and just stops. Super disappointing since this could've been so easy and people have been asking for a looping book emote for years.

I think we've hit a new low in terms of re-using assets.

Love the scenery and music of the variant, will farm it for the mount.

Glam is not my style at all.

Hair looks messy to me and not in a good way.

joking aside, thankfully for SE there's always people to defend this so it's okay I guess, as long as those people play this game nothing will change, they'll just eat up anything and be extra grateful for it for some reason

The extreme is very fun but savage seems like it is just a copy paste again except you need to complete everything without mistakes.
It's not fun, you could just remove the savage and requires a fast kill time instead, it wouldn't be as frustrating.

Oh and the rewards?
Savage Criterion got a housing item and a title. BLU got a title.
But the shop is getting all the mounts!

Doesn't matter what you play for. The act is exactly the same that you claim is why the game won't change. No matter how you slice it you're no different than anyone else. All I'm saying.

A new Hayate doesn't do much for me but someone out there might just like it. As you say. Power to em. I can't call em wrong or anything like that

Imo it's just lazy to take an existing minion and slap a scarf on it and call it a new reward. If someone likes it more power to them but it doesn't make it any less of a lazy act. Re-using assets isn't necessarily a bad thing if there are significant changes made to distinguish between them. This is barely that. A good re-use could have been to have the dog be a different color entirely with the bigger scarf (and possibly have that be a different color as well).

Don't you need to pay for the game to use the forums? If you want change then as you suggested then just leave see if that works.

It is not wrong for people to praise the devs for content they like or enjoy even if it is only worth 10 mins to you.

On the topic it does have an awesome design and I really do hope they flesh this idea out further in the future.
