I think to a Degree Thancred also did Rouge / Ninja.

Thancred started as a gladiator wielding a dagger, because rogue/ninja didn't exist yet. Then when those were added, he picked up a second dagger. He kept up with that until Shadowbringers, where he became a gunbreaker, although he still uses some ninja tricks (bring him to Dohn Mheg and he'll use Shukuchi to skip the tightrope segment of the final boss.....which players can't do, but hey).

Yeah, almost every NPC has a secret trick that we don't have access to. Nero use some crazy skills on the last boss of Role Quest. Fourchenault has a beautiful group mitigation as Sage.

Doesn't he just jump or use his gap closer from the halfway point? (Which players still can't do...)

It's Urianger who just teleports the whole way across with a skill AST doesn't even have.
