They have had multiple flops and FF14 is mostly the only thing keeping the company afloat and what is keeping FFXIV afloat? The paying customers.

My point was addressing the entitled attitude that people are "owed" anything, they arent. Yes there are benchmarks and necessary work to make the game appealing to a wide playerbase, but the simple fact is that at any time, for any reason, the the company as a whole can shut the game down anytime they want.

Thing is every expansions quantity is getting less and less and now patches only drop every 4 months with droplets of content. Quality of the content is also getting lessened. I don't think this is a good example to what a game company should be like, yes they have some good points but they also have bad points as well.

Thats more a matter of opinion, IMNSHO. Patch cycle times vary from game to game, agreed, in all truth they have been pretty much consistent.

Allow me to use the Lackluster thread example real quick. A little over a week before then, you had said that you were once one of the people who were ahead of the curve on WoW's main issues and tried to warn the playerbase about it. When I mentioned that in Lackluster, you denied it outright. These cannot simultaneously be true. You either were, or you weren't. There is no worldview at play there. That's just an outright lie. You either lied in lackluster, or you lied in Aveyond's FF16 thread. I have once again included the link as evidence below for anyone else reading along here, and the post at the bottom of the page in Lackluster contains a link to the FF16 thread.

6.0 was definitely in it's own league in terms of trying to answer very common questions regarding life ans suffering found in philosophical debates, but it was one singular expansion and post-patches have mostly dropped those themes. That's why this topic comes off as weird ragebait because you are really just talking about one singular expansion. Currently the MSQ is touching none of those themes present in 6.0 either, and I can't say the ride has been better for it quite honestly.

I loved 6.0 for those parts though because I found it fascinating and they made me think about things I otherwise wouldn't. That's one of the great things about media and entertainment, really. So I'm definitely biased.

7.0 will be it's own thing, I'm not sure why you're so concerned. But yes, I do hope for more time with new characters and pushing older characters either to chill on the side or giving them some good character progression that they didn't get in Endwalker.

While it's true that the Final Fantasy series do use some of the tropes used in Endwalker, it does feel to me that Endwalker laid it on a bit thick. Well, 7.0 onwards will have a new lead writer, so I'm still willing to see how the story goes from here.

Where I am from (ZAR) it is pretty expensive especially so if 60% of my free time playing games is thwarted by my Electric company with their scheduled blackouts.

Exactly. And if the story, which is probably by far the biggest selling point of this game, is starting to go down in quality as well, there is real cause for concern.

Ishikawa's been hands-off the direct writing since 6.10, having been promoted up to a creative lead ("Senior Story Designer") — so the same person who outlined the events of Endwalker, 6.10-6.40, and the 6.x Side Series will still be doing it. Some of the people in the trenches putting the script together have just been shuffled around.

The team "writing" the game is actually pretty "corporatised" and distributed, so the "Designers" at the top have the most influence over "what happens" and "why" — that will still be Ishikawa and Oda, moving forward.

ie, If you're not feeling the Lore/Story of things like Myths of the Realm, Palace of the "Hey everyone, just want to remind you... again... that Hermes and Amon and the Crystal Tower and Allag and Ishikawa's other pet obsessions exist!", the Void Friendship + Eating Food Saga, etc...

...then you're probably not going to see a very dramatic change in Meracydia (which is probably the destination because WOW always tries to copy its competitors preemptively, and WOW is currently on a remote island ruled by Dragons).
