Given how little information there is that is expanded, I hope the question made sense. I didn't think to check TT cards, either. I'm still reading my way through the EE's. One weird thought, though. If Amdapor got visions of the sin-eaters as models, but even with the different timeflow meaning they were getting echoes way ahead of time, did The Twinning break a lot more than the immediate timeline?

I'm still pretty certain 7.0 will have future-travel, so it's an interesting thought experiment. That will almost certainly never get answered. :P

The Twinning didn't 'break' anything, and I think you'll need to find more clear proof that it did. And I think it's fairly clear how the flow of time between shards works: it's all flowing in the same direction, but not at the same rate.

If you want that Kuribu story to be word-for-word accurate, then I think it makes complete sense that they saw a glimpse of sin eaters in another world before the Flood--which isn't all that impossible, since we know that's caused by aetheric imbalance, which we've seen plenty of times in other forms. It's far from inconceivable that at some point, on one of about seven worlds, some people got crammed full of light aether and that happened.

Never jump immediately to a very complicated way something could've happened without first ruling out the simple ways. And there's some pretty damn simple ways this could've happened that you haven't ruled out.

Oh, I know. The "Did it break something" was a musing, not a definitive. The flow of time is consistent, but echoes of time could go anywhere, and SE has explored that before. I'm personally suspicious of the Atomos research, because that's how XI did their past-travel, so there's some 'precedent' there.

A bit far afield for this thread, but I think it'd be easy to argue The Twinning broke something. It's not normal for towers to break dimensional and temporal walls, after all. Yes, how it works was laid out in the datalogs, but consequences could be anyway. It's not really the most complicated answer. If they come out and say "You must have completed The Twinning before starting 7.0", again, no surprise.

I'm thinking of ways they could play with time, because (and I'm happy to be wrong) I'm still pretty certain there will be a forward-time skip in 7.0. It lets them push the story forward and introduce new characters, while keeping some of the others. Y'shtola disappears to the First and her kid shows up, new dragoon protégé, Alisae and Alphie grow up and are looking for what happened, things like that. There would have to be closed-loop causality, so this just added to my "maybe" pile as an idea. There's been lots of options, I'm not ruling anything out because they've expanded tiny things before. :P
