Yeah lets go over how theres a tab in the main menu for the cash shop thats hard to ignore in Diablo 4 again?

So one is in a sub menu that you would have to choose to tab over too, otherwise you could completely ignore it. That being diablos.

The other is the biggest, most eye catching part of the mandatory log in screen so you’re sure to see it each and every time you play. That being ffxiv.

The latter is more predatorial

That really was my point lol, in one case it's a tab on the menu, in the other you are forced to look at it every log in..

The latter is just more "eye catching" as you worded it and you are literally forced to see it

If I had a choice whether or not to see 'optional' purchases in the launcher window or in-game, I'll choose launcher any day. That said, it's super obvious, and takes up a good chunk of the real estate. Also, trying to be nice to people in your responses to them is never a bad idea (something I fail to do too to be fair).
