The Omnicron are part of the simulation.The Loporrits drugged us with their carrots when we toured their base. Nothing after that carrot actually happened.
We're currently strapped to a machine on their base, along with as many people as they could abduct save, and are being given false memories of saving the world so that when they do find a new world suitable for habitation, they can just handwave all the details as collateral damage from the Final Days we "stopped"
