Had Raven from the PvPrimal discord suggest me BRD. Though I've heard a lot of people cry about BRD since this patch. Not sure how it fares...There are some absolutely amazing paladins that play CC and carry their team on their back. That being said it is an extremely busy job with high punish/reward structure based on decisions you make. It certainly isn't for everyone. If you like playing DPS give GNB a try. You can clap people almost as quickly as many of the first choice dps jobs. DRK is also really good at controlling the crystal if you like complexity but less complex than PLD. I don't suggest anyone to play WAR. It's just a bunch of Crowd Control held together loosely by filler buttons. Bottom line if you aren't doing well with the job I would definitely suggest trying another before calling it quits. And don't let the lower ranks discourage you. They are really awful this season.

If you can record a game, I would be more than happy to give you some pointers on what you could personally do better to help improve your winrate regardless of RNG teammates or party composition.

You don't have to worry about having to adjust to changes in range but about getting used to it as it presently is, so I'd say, give it a good try. It's still fun for me even though I will press silence a bunch of times when out of range in every match... Repelling Shot can go wrong but it's super fun and I would encourage to use it as often as possible. With more space it's great, corners are not that good unless you need to pot behind one or lb. You also get a good view of what is actually going right or wrong. LB can be a real blast and a tide turner... Bard is a team player job, there is no other way with that one. You will be the one watching tanks get in trouble and sometimes be in position to help them stay alive. With silence, repelling shot and paeon there are some things that can be done for others. I would recommend macros for paeon for every team member so it's easier to throw it at someone so long you don't need it for yourself. Autotargetting nearest helps you always shoot someone between target switching so you can keep yourself nice and busy and it helps when you get jumped from behind. I'd recommend you to see what you can make of it.

BRD is a ranged job and therefore relies on the team to perform properly. On top of it it's a support oriented job which means that if nobody is able to follow up on your silences for example, or make use of your damage buffs, you'll essentially waste a lot of your kit and what you bring up to the team if they don't use it well.
Nocturne has also been nerfed to the ground last patch so it doesnt help.
