I mean undercutting is toxic due to the idea that it becomes a massive competition to see who has more time to sink sitting at their retainers changing prices(with the bots always winning)

That's why I undercut by a huge amount sometimes. One of two things will happen.

1) The bot undetcuts me and makes a lot less gil.

2) The bot buys my item and I get my money and retainer space to list more items.

Either way I win.

That's what I do as well, regardless of if it's a bot or not. It doesn't mean I enjoy it though. I would love to see an improved marketboard system that avoids all this hassle.

that a GM "talked" to them is an indictation its a troll.

what would a GM talk to them about? false reporting maybe.. that someone undercut them on a in game marketboard? no.

undercutting is also not "toxic" its the price of putting things up on the board. If someone is going to bring out the "toxic" label, the word has obviously lost all meaning. at that point its "toxic" to log into the game because anything you do might put someone else at a disadvantage.. grow up lol (not the poster I am replying to ^^)

I undercut by 5-10% and sometimes that's 500k.

Because 1 gil undercutting is for cowards.

people really take the economy in game super serious don't they? Who really cares honestly. You either get rich or be poor just like real life. People will always go to the cheapest they can people love saving money it's a part of being human. People rather save money then spend more then they have to. People just butt hurt they got ripped off by someone that undercut them and gave the buyer a better sale is all

I undercut by large amounts because of people running auction bots that will just repost with a 1gil undercut a few minutes after I adjust my price. Either I undercut by such a large amount that I break whatever floor amount the bot refuses to reduce under, or I crash the market price enough where more people are willing to buy out the botted listings as well as my own.

I just talked to a GM after I reported a retainer on the market board that undercut me by 50k gil on Kupo Coffer.

You got so bent out of shape that somebody is selling the same item as you, but at a lower price that you Reported it?!
Like WTF man. Free market blah-blah-blah, its common sense that somebody would want to buy it cheaper. So selling cheaper is a bigger guarantee for a sale.

But if your are so Gung-Ho about selling it at the price YOU think its worth, then do it.
But dont throw a hissy fit at people who sell cheaper. Just because they were willing to sell for less, and the customer wanted to pay less.
This is Not "Trolling" Its "Competition" And sure you can argue that the value of items go down....but the Customer pays what THEY think its worth.

You can dictate what YOU sell.
But the Customer Dictates what they will Pay
