Airships: Cost vs. Frequency vs. Usage

I still wouldn't use it if it was instant once you cross through the gate. I'd have to waste all the time walkin to the elevator and takin the elevator up, talkin to an npc, clickin a couple times~!

/sarcasm off. I think airships are fine as they are. A few minutes here and there is way faster than walking/riding a chocobo. And yes, it is way slower than teleporting for those who can afford the anima. It provides a middle ground that greatly favors reduced travel times while still not making everything instant.

There's already been talk about adding a, please don't kill me for saying it, FFXI style airship ride in the future to make the trip a little more interesting. Not unlike the ferry, though far shorter and with something other than just a vast expanse of water to stare at.

i use it all the time right now, but when they add the xi style airship i will use it as often as i do the boat(never).

I thought the current airship system couldn't get any lamer.. but then I read this and realized it absolutely COULD get lamer! Why is everyone in such a hurry?

My question is the opposite: Why wait? I know people like to go and get a coffee, but sometimes I already have a drink with me. I can't think of any other kind of game aside from MMO's that thinks "You know what? Perhaps we should just make them stand around for a few minutes doing nothing."

I could understand if these airship events were in place, but at the moment they don't, so that's why I asked the question to see what people thought.

I would understand the point of it being a balancing act with anima (ie: use anima if you're in a hurry, but if you run out, then pay for airship) but when you have already paid the gil, I just don't see a huge point in waiting. I could imagine the need for a higher cost in such instances, though. I'd rather a high cost quick ride than forcing dozens of people to see a load of spam from someone offering 15k to get them to X location via teleport because they're in a hurry. And I certainly have seen a lot of people in a hurry in this game. That's the reason I'm often in a hurry - because other people are waiting for me. >_*

I'd use the airship a lot more if it crashed in Coerthas or Mor Dhona randomly.

Right now I use it about 4-7 times a day, if they reduced the price I'd be on board with it but I think it's fine the way it is. If something in another city isn't worth 5k to go see, then it probably isn't worth the trip anyways

I think the time is just right too- enter gate- get a refill on my coffee- splash some water on my face- sit back down and I'm across the world like magic~

I would like this, just with something to do rather than finding glitches on the airship to stand outside it lol
