    Especially since Japan is entering a second Lockdown because of the second wave. While the dev team has mostly settled in to work from home, I remeber (vaguely, don't quote me on this) that Yoshi-P mentioned there's areas that can't be worked on remotely like QA. I wouldn't be at all surprised if their entirely line-up and release schedule got compromised.

    That could explain why my long time friend is trying to nudge me back to XI. My qualm with the game is all my favorite jobs are bottom tier, it became less fun over time, and still a PITA to get help to clear content. (Also I hate gear swapping). Wanted to level up Rune Fencer, but couldn't even get the help from my own linkshell to do the artifact quests and the trust system was still in it's infancy. It was time to leave.

    So the Feb event for XIV is basically a full reveal of the new expansion and patch 5.5 teaser, since they'd use to separate the Fan Fests and we had to wait months to get all the info. COVID has hindered a lot of development time and costs to get people to work from home, so we'll see. I would like to see a change in the formula a bit:

    -horizontal endgame gear progression (EX dungeons with objectives). Low man content is popular for people who don't have the time or patience to Savage. Make it job inclusive like deep dungeons.
    -Eight man dungeon as the "raid" with checkpoints, jumping puzzles, interesting mechanics, etc. Heck, some of the 24 mans had some exciting boss fights, so downscale those for the entire raid.
    -More face options for character creation (or just overhaul the thing if you have to).

    Ex-FFXI player here who plays it again sometimes.

    FFXI content is way easier to make. They reuse models and don't make new maps/monsters/NPCs etc... The only content that may take a little longer are the new stories wich some doesn't even have complex cutscenes.

    FFXIV is still one of the best MMORPGs that offers more new and original content compared to others. Ofcourse we can ask for more, and we should, but we also should be realistic.

    What that means, is they are getting new:

    -Story content
    -Job/leveling/customization expansions (for all jobs not just some, nothing limited there.)
    -New event Mandragora Mania
    -Only new content
    -Equal attention/gear/glamour/customization for all jobs
    -Bonus Campaigns
    -Seasonal events

    without deleting:

    -No discontinuation of any seasonal or regular events
    -No cancelation of any content
    -No deletion of any quests or content


    So, if the FFXI is capable of so much, it begs to question why the XIV constantly complains of server, system, coding and such reasons as to why they cant balance jobs, release content, or fix existing issues.

    At this point FFXI has just about everything FFXIV has but significantly more, and running on older systems and coding.
    Sadly FF14 team just reduced content even more
