Im currently working on getting my Monk artifact armor for my FFXI character in the hopes of being able to use it for every job. Im happy that you've confirmed that.
See? If an old game like FFXI doesnt have an issue with it, why FFXIV?

Actually FFXI doesn't allow you to equip AF on any Job, that poster is completely wrong. Changes to style lock (FFXI's glamour system) do apparently allow it to be glamoured on any Job (as long as the other Job is the required level), but you cannot equip it normally as such. And it certainly wasn't the case when glamour was first introduced (gear could only be glamoured if you could equip it on that Job).
And as FFXI is now officially in maintenence mode, I don't think we can really use FFXI as an example of what FFXIV's glamour system should be.
Also FFXI has enemy mechanics that actually break your glamour (certain enemy attacks strip you of your armour and weapon, and if this happens it deactivates your current glamour as well), so that is the trade off they have...

I think you're looking at this the wrong way. FFXI having a flawed glam system doesn't mean we should, and it absolutely makes sense to draw parallels of restrictions between both games as they're run by the same company, maintenance mode or not.
