The problem is what do you replace it with because while it may be obvious, SE is still a business and does need to keep you subbed. It's easy to say develop more raids but that takes time and resources. They simply can't keep up with how quickly content is consumed. Case in point, you finished getting all the gear you technically need for your main in a week when they design the raids to last for months.
If tomes were anywhere remotely that quick, why would you even bother going back? Sure, there's the argument for playing other jobs but that only lasts for so long. At this point, Savage is kept alive by timegating and parse logging. Take away the former and it's entirely reliant on a third party website the devs don't even like for any sort of incentive outside an Ultimate release.
"Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters."
"The silence is your answer."
If tomegear is faster to acquire they can tune the content around it. Its not that hard... please think before replying. And before you do that again and go "but why change the system then?" ill do the thinking once again for you: to gear alt jobs faster.Do you people want to trivialize the content even more than it normally is? Tomes take longer because otherwise it's far easier to clear things faster. Look at P6S, most groups were skipping Cachexia 2 on the 3rd week. Making people gear faster would just make that a 1st week skip instead, at which point the devs are just going to make everything even harder on the DPS checks.
Maybe they can stop wasting ressources on dead on arrival content like island sanctuary or V/C dungeons. The problem is what do you replace it with because while it may be obvious, SE is still a business and does need to keep you subbed. Tomes are slow on purpose. Being a slower, alternative gear source for non-raiders is the main purpose of the system. That's why it's below savage ilevels in the first place. Upgrading it to sometimes be BiS is a bonus, not the primary function.
If you got it all tomorrow you'd be complaining how the patch lasts 2 weeks.
I mean can you blame him? Seriously why do people go for all BiS if theres not enough content to validate for it. Its just pointless numbers. At least in other MMOs theres actually content reasons for them but in FFXIV all you get is Savage.
I guess the new Criterion in this patch will warrant for it but I feel people sometimes go pointlessly overboard with wanting to gear up so quickly.
I do support the more options available for getting BiS pieces.
