Like some of the others in this thread, I feel like you are exaggerating the requirements of actually obtaining Feast rewards in terms of matches played doing the content.
You have to remember that even less people played it back then, it's the same kind of thing with people pushing for the Skybuilder rankings, in some cases you could hit the rankings with minimal effort since so few people cared to do it.
In the case of Feast, we can literally see the matches and win rates for the first few seasons. For Aether the #100 ranked players had 56% win rates and played 162 and 167 matches TOTAL. Some people did it with less than a 50% win rate....
Just using this old Malmstone XP calculator (I don't know if it's updated), it would take 155 losses of CC to reach only Rank 25. If someone wanted to reach Rank 30, they would have to get 226 LOSSES OR 176 WINS. That would be more of a grind than the Top 100 of Feast had to do at the time. Of course, it's easier if they just want to do Frontlines but they are still doing it.
That's why I don't understand this weird standard people have about Feast, I think it's more likely that people are upset that they played a mode that others didn't care about and was arguably worse and need something to justify their time spent now that things are different.
I'm not actually this type of person, but since I played during the time of the initial FFXV collaboration, shouldn't I feel special to have those rewards and no one else should get them? As in it was a you had to be there kind of thing and let me feel special. And yet they brought it back.
Or if they released items that said "Authentic Shadowstalker's Set" on the cash shop for the old Feast rewards....Because they've literally done that for other time-limited rewards which I pointed out.
That's how people sound about the Feast rewards. They can be right to feel that way don't get me wrong, but if they are right in the developer's eyes, that is a massive double standard for "time-limited" rewards.
The effort to get the Trophy Crystals should hardly equate to a"free hand-out" if they are set to appropriate values like I mentioned. The examples I gave would show that if people were doing CC for their rewards it would be more than those getting Top 100 at that time.
It's just that now there's nothing of real value to spend them on if you've been doing it for a while. So they'd be great as crystal sinks for large amounts to either keep people PvPing or bring them back for future Series.
