too tired to go into much detail, but many things.

- tropes of having to incorporate ex-villains as new allies
- 6.* being way too much filler for my tastes (to be fair, i knew it was going to be, doesn't make it super fun though)
- I would like to see the Scions take a backseat, I want the WoL to branch out and be forced to meet new people without someone babysitting them. But, I realize that that's probably not going to happen.

That said, FFXIV by FAR destroys every mmo and most video games in general for their story telling (when it's at it's best that is) . all imo of course.

The EW story was a complete disaster the moment they disbanded the scions, and literally not even 5 minutes later you start doing quests with them again like nothing happened. Can't say I'm surprised they've weasled us into solving more existential crises and fighting with literal gods. Of course now we're going to see Y'shtola solve cross reflection travel and have probably another expansions worth of Scion nonsense. Let us be an adventurer again.

It is another self centered review, no idea what pun you are getting out of it, either you like the game or not, I don't need to show you where the door is, that is solely your choice, but kind.

Both of these opinions couldn’t be more wrong and off the mark for one simply reason. No one is seeking reparations from garlemald or to punish them. That is why informing them why the tower was being used is the realistic thing to do.

The examples given here have nothing to do with what happened in Garlemald or have similarity to the motivations or reasons that led to the rise of world war 2.

Actually I wished it would’ve played out like this:

We are running errands for the Garleans to make sure they feel good about us and we gain their approval because those are the things that really matter at the moment and just when they are about thinking of letting us borrow their tower that we control and could’ve used the whole time to save the world Golbez and an army of voidsent break through, kill everyone and take over the source. The last scenes are of the Garleans doing a surprised pikachu face, saying “shucks, you were right! Use the tower!” and Estinien goes, “bruh, kinda late for that now” just as the doors burst open and thousands of voidsent take us out.

A couple of years later the voidsent publish a history book and this event is the first example of things not to do in the middle of a crisis.

I’m mostly joking but it highlights why I think how we handled that was so silly. This scenario is exactly what we were risking happening just so we could get some Garleans social media upvotes.

The more I think about it, the more that section to me isn’t great. The Garlean Empire was portrayed as selfish and egotistical, and in this quest we have to coddle to the same selfishness as portrayed by … well the old man. I don’t remember his name lol. He demonstrates the same self centered view of the world even in the face of a global threat and entertaining his ego made little sense. Not just entertain, but reward it with a bribe.

While I agree it’s not unrealistic there are people like this, especially in Garlemald, how we had to interact with it wasn’t my favorite. I’d have preferred if there wasn’t the whole impediment followed by the annoying quest to chase after the old man who was acting rather idiotic the entire quest. They still could have been helped with a trade agreement in the end in appreciation rather than how that all felt.

To be fair Thancred seemed very uninterested in hanging out with the Scions. He noped out pretty fast after the dungeon even when Urianger tried to get him to mentor Zero lol.

I completely agree with this, but we need to go with the rules that the story-writers themselves have made, along with the world building for the Thirteenth. I think it was supposed to be more of an "Oh sh*t." moment, and while it may not have affected the players that much, I think in terms of story it worked fine for the characters. My only question is how was the Aether there the whole time without floating away? Ah well.

LOL, you just described FF4 (or FF2 for the original US release) which makes sense since the entire Golbez arc was pilfered from that game.
