All Hrothgar that appear are by default best boy, 100% would scratch their ears and under the chin. But Magnus is a bro. We need to find him a date. Also would be nice if we could help the mining settlement get back on their feet. Just for good boy Magnus.

Second part's fine and all, but something tells me that he would turn down any attempt to get him a new partner. Or be insulted by the idea even, I get the feeling Hrothgars are like, super loyal to their partner (given that females are meant to be very rare), so they would just live out the rest of their life single, just out of respect to their partner. And he had a child he lost too, so that but twice as much

I would hope he wouldn't. Everyone deserves to be happy and the thought of them entering voluntary seclusion after losing their partner is utterly depressing. This sometimes happens in real life with people and I think it is a horrible behaviour that they should be seeking medical assistance. Humans are social animals, we need people interactions to function and even the most introverted between us do engage in it. I would hope he would find someone that makes him happy. He might turn it down in the beginning, but just like with us, he might open up to the idea. They would not be betraying their spouse if they would seek someone else after said partner has passed away. Given that their females are so rare, I would think that the males are more likely to find companionship with each other, romantic or otherwise. I would be happy even if he was to find a pet to look after, any kind of emotional support would work and it wouldn't need to be inherently romantic.
I don't think he would be insulted. I can actually picture his reaction being the same as in the old cartoons where the main character would try to get their friend/teacher/neighbour/etc a date with someone else they know, only for the whole ordeal to go horribly wrong. More funny, but you tried - kind of deal.

Either way, I hope all Hrothgar that were affected with the dead wife disease (DWD for short) will eventually get better and move on.
