I wouldn't be surprised if the devs had favourite jobs they want to be the best job. We already know Yoshi-P plays BLM but I bet there's someone on the dev team who plays WAR and SAM too which is why those jobs always have to be the best no matter what.

I can assure you, no dev mains SAM.

But no, all 3 of your examples are definitely not "always the best". WAR has been on the bottom DPS-wise with PLD since EW started, SAM is least played melee in TOP, while BLM is least played caster there and so on. Only job that is always the best is NIN and maybe DNC, but that's only because BRD and MCH are such a joke that DNC looks good in comparison.

But then why did they only only buff damage potencies of these jobs without buffing other areas of other jobs to make up for it? Even if it's because they were the least played jobs in TOP, why didn't BRD get any buffs when it is like the second least played job? I just think that they pick and choose what to buff and which jobs to buff because they just don't care about some jobs.

DPS was the biggest issue with tank balance. As I noted above, Dark Knight has a phenomenal mitigation suite. It doesn't need sustain, though I certainly wouldn't mind Abyssal Drain being a lower CD. On the other hand, Black Mage had absolutely zero reason to be buffed. It's the least played Caster because it's actually difficulty to play consistency, much less optimize. Which makes it by far the most intimidating job in the game. No amount of damage buffs will make it popular among the masses. And that's completely fine. The dev team needs to stop desperately trying to incentivize every job. Let people enjoy what they enjoy. Some players prefer harder jobs to master. So let them have that complexity if they so desire.

Deo is also mistaken about her Prange assessment. Dancer is definitely the favourite but Machinist has caught up a lot since they finally gave in and gave it some utility. Bard is low (least played job in the game) because people dislike how it plays. The job's rotation is incredibly rigid and is by far the most punished for any misalignment. You're completely screwed if you die as well. All that to mostly spam Burst Shot because the dev team removed every little nuance Bard once had. Which goes back to the above point. They were so caught up in accessibility above all, they drove away dedicated Bard players and still couldn't convince new players to pick it up. This is why you don't try to cater to people not interested in a job but those who already are.

That won't work because abyssal drain and carve and spit share a cooldown.
I think the play might be to put a cure potency on carve and spit, or put a HoT on oblation.
Alternatively, we can give Drk some damage but then War wouldn't be the best at absolutely everything anymore.
