New Player Experience is bad.

I started playing not too long ago after having been a MMO veteran for years and have always loved FF games. What from what I was able to experience the story telling is captivating and it's a great game overall as per usual. The reason I am no longer going to be playing is because of the community itself and not the game for once. This place is kinda disgusting... splinter d/cords, predators, abusers, un-hinged schizo's who never log off, and the clear lack of self-policing going on in the community. It looks a whole hell of a lot like league of legends from the outside.... Good luck and stay safe everyone.

Sorry you had a bad experience with the community.

In-game is probably the least problematic MMO community I ever experienced and generally everyone I've run across has been pretty chill. (Forums on the other hand is one of the worst due to the lack of regular moderation).

Are you basing that off the forums? Cause lol that would be a mistake. I also would hate to think you experienced that much horrible crap in a short amount of time. Yes, I'm asking for a sample size. As context helps alot.

And I can't say I've had similar issues, but I don't know what part of the community you were interacting with.

I can understand saying things about this forum specifically. Many people do, considering people just come here to complain.

The many discords are what are known as communities and that's a good thing. The larger ones specialize in certain areas of the game and do it well because of that.

All the other stuff is what you would find just about anywhere, especially on the internet. But if things are reported, they are handled by SE.

Not logging off doesn't make you un-hinged. Just bored for one reason or another and solving that by playing a game.

Re-read what they said. It's not just this forum - As much as you all want to hate on how negative we can be about features in a video game. Every MMO forum is pretty bad, but our overall communities and bubbles can be really weird, clingy, and sometimes aggressive.

Idk what it is, and I don't wanna blame any specific thing or XIV itself. But we do harbor the people and behaviors OP is talking about.

If you've played any other MMO, you'll know they all have some of their own weird - But this place has some gross weird. Like reading some people on the XIV subreddit talking about how ERP is good when you don't know who or how old the other person is. I don't mind that people enjoy ERP/adult content in general. But that's such an unhinged perspective.

It means they were probably approached by someone or a group of people. But yeah it doesn't really have anything to do with NPE - More intro to community. lol

Like my intro to an MMO community is them being helpful with content, but here I sometimes see new players being approached for other things..

Its pretty well known that the community is complete ass outside ingamechat and the only reason they "behave" is because they dont want to get banned. Go to reddit, twitter, youtube, discord, this forums and the GCBTW facade begins to crumble like old bread.
