MEGATHREAD: Requested Hairstyles & Facial Hair

Ideally curved rows around the ears and maybe a loose braid or two to hide the joins; more likely the ears just plonked carelessly over a straight braid.

Anyway, if the braids can be made to work, the loose side might still clip oddly with the left ear since it's so puffy.


For reference, the current braided hairstyle on Miqo'te:

The braid that goes over the top of the ear is probably in a similar position to the highest braid on the new style? I think more ideally you'd have the braids start below the cat-ears and loose hair above, though it might be too late for that.

Anyway. TL;DR I want to get something that works for him sooner or later. The only other hairstyle of similar length and not straight is the "Jesus style" and that doesn't work for him at all.

The hairstyle is only partially braided on the side and mostly loose in the back so Miqo'te ears might actually end up on the loose part, but it's difficult to get a good enough angle to know for sure.



Viera ears might actually be kind of a problem because of their position and there being visible skin between the cornrows, I don't know if they can just raise the braids to meet the floating ears without having visible space underneath the ears because the braids seem to have an individual curve to them as well. Which makes me think it unfortunately might not be a hairstyle for players The style is somewhat similar to Moenbryda's hair and they completely skipped over that for all the non-ARR races for probably similar reasons.

But I hope I'm wrong because I quite like it and they completely butchered 2B's hair for Viera and released it like that anyway so anything is possible.

Even worse! It's there on the sides and they only removed the part between the ears, leaving an ugly visible joint where the hair is glued together.

In addition to basically every Viera-specific hairstyle causing the hair to pass under the ears! And in ways that could so easily be worked around.

I didn't even consider that, but there's that too I'll be very pleasantly surprised if players get it because it is quite unique and we're due another long hairstyle, but like you said it does look pretty custom.

Although they do something similar for Hrothgar when they port over the longer hairstyles so moving it around might not be as much work as we think?

The difference here is the adjustment hrothgar get is hair like the Jesus hair or the upcomibg Sephiroth hair have to be curved/angled slightly to account for the stupid hunch so as not to clip thru the character model (altho haha it absolutely does when you...make any movement at all).
This however is made so as to not clip thru a gearpiece with a small collar. I doubt it would be fixed to not clip thru say the Ivalice Astrologer collar or the Uraeus Coat collar (whoever keeps putting high collars in this game is a lunatic because WHY when you know ever hair that is longer than necklength clips abysmally???).
Id love this hairstyle but do to this much effort you should lower expectations and chuck this in the "npc hair we'll never get" pile along with hilda and hiens and hythlodaeus.

I wouldn't call that a small collar – it's wide rather than tall but it's still large if it's bulky enough to need to disrupt the shape of the hair like that.

If we did get it, I would hope that it would get altered to lie flatter.

I don't understand the hesitation over Hilda's hairstyle, though I would expect we're simply not getting Hien's because it's so large and bulky. It's far too soon to assume we're not getting Hyth's, though.

I wanted to thank everyone for their input and continued support for this thread and hope to see continued future support for it!
I've always appreciated the insight of many here and valid questions in regards to which hairstyles and why.

While many players value playable content above all else, there are those of us like myself who see improvements such as hairstyles, housing and the future graphic update to be just as important as playable content.

My guess on the matter as far as why such nice looking hairstyles have yet to grace our presence is simply the focus isn't on hairstyles. (which makes sense all things considered)
And yet, there is a 100% chance Hilda's is in the works but on the XIV teams backburner. They've been known to forget about implementing certain hairstyles (ardashirs ponytail) but have done so recently.
I do ask that in future live letters that allow us to ask questions, everyone who wants certain hairstyles like Hiens, hilda's, Hyth's, Emet's etc to inquire after those.
It's not a waste of time to ask, or a waste of a question imo.
Yoshi-P has in the past said if people wanted Hilda's hair, if the demand was enough it would be added.

(Heck, someone actually asked Yoshi-P if we should save the sandwich that the Exarch had given us back in Shadowbringers and Yoshi-P gave us the honorary face palm. Understandably so lol.)

So, my fellow hairstyle enthusiasts, I ask you continue to persevere and be the squeaky wheel when it comes to implementing hairstyles you want to see.
