In response to OP, I generally don't care except for in the case where these adverts explicitly state 18+. It's cringe and offputting to me because it alludes to adult themes. The game is rated T meaning that there are minors playing.
Sure, we can argue that well minors are subject to this IRL. But IRL there's a general moderation because we're in public (ID checking at bars for exemple). Online and in a game there is anonymity and no sure or secure means of making sure someone is 18+.
Add into the mix that there's a program that can synch 18+ mods between anonymous players ?
I'm not into the RP/ERP/venue community so I don't know how far reaching these things are or even how popular they are, but oof no thanks.
Yet, who can blame them ? XIV is the only social/mmo game out there that essentially provides the base models for easy 18+ modding.
I once said this on the forums when female viera were first announced and shown: they look like IMVU. It's really no surprise that these things exist in this game.

In response to the OP, there are plenty of sexual predators in the RP community, and plenty of them are into children.
There was one recently on Materia, where there were leaked chatlogs of this 38yo man chatting up a 14yo boy and inviting him into a known ERP/Sex Discord.
In general people can do whatever they like in game and it won't bother me until its up in my face, venue spam 24/7 advertising 'escorts' and the like.
That is straight up disgusting and anyone who advertises it should be slapped with a lifetime ban from the game and sent back to IMVU where they belong.
The game is now being designed around these players, that do not want to play final fantasy, but want Final Fantasy to become IMVU.
I think it's highly unfortunate and I think the attempts to brush off any concerns as 'puritan thinking' are disingenuous, especially when they often come from the same posters who claim that such players should be allowed to do whatever they want and be left alone only to spend most of their time on the forum trying to chase away anyone who leaves criticism and feedback towards the game.
If there's one good thing that'll come out of internet related laws being tightened over time it'll hopefully be this sort of stuff being taken more seriously and stamped out. As others have said, there's a lot of predatory behaviour going on within venues and exposing strangers to extreme fetishes that they want absolutely nothing to do with. Leaving people to do their own thing in private only works when it's actually private and this stuff is now brazenly posted in public channels as well as the party finder.
They're also often the same individuals who chased off a lot of actual role-players from the game since many role-players wanted to invest in the setting itself, not the heavily modded 'venue' version of the game.
Perhaps most importantly, though, it's not a good look for the game when so many people are actively using Twitter to post explicit screenshots of their heavily modded characters and actively showcasing extreme fetishes. It's very common these days and I know people who refuse to touch FFXIV because of its increasingly controversial reputation.

I mean, I don't RP or ERP so I don't understand this thread at all. What others do with their time has no bearing on what I experience and choose to do in game.
Please explain to the class, how in the seven hells is the game trying to focus on people wanting to be an IMVU?In response to the OP, there are plenty of sexual predators in the RP community, and plenty of them are into children.

If it doesn't impact you, fair enough, yet some of us do role-play and so it does effect us when this sort of thing ends up being what passes for 'role-play' within the community. If it was truly out of sight and out of mind then it'd be easier to dismiss. Just like it'd be easier to dismiss if the game wasn't increasingly catering to venue goers at the expense of those of us who enjoy other aspects of the game.
Folks. This is what the 18+ modders really want. This affects us all.In response to the OP, there are plenty of sexual predators in the RP community, and plenty of them are into children.

You and other people are weirdly sold into the fallacy that this game somehow is catering to these people? If it doesn't impact you, fair enough, yet some of us do role-play and so it does effect us when this sort of thing ends up being what passes for 'role-play' within the community. Yeah thats so smart of SE to actually design the game around predators. Do you even listen to yourself saying such nonsense?

I don't understand this argument either given nearly all new content is battle-oriented for the most part. Every patch we see is almost all "other aspects of the game" with maybe a few cosmetics or house items that people can enjoy whether they ERP or not.If it doesn't impact you, fair enough, yet some of us do role-play and so it does effect us when this sort of thing ends up being what passes for 'role-play' within the community. Outside of these posts, after 1000 hours of gameplay I haven't encountered this issue once - maybe because I don't look for it.
I do understand that perhaps if you RP you will run into it a bit more - but you can simply not join those guilds or go to those houses. In ESO where I created an RP guild that became a full time job to create storylines for (but is still active after over 3 years, though I handed over GM), there were ERP guilds. I actually accidentally joined an ERP guild based on Dibella (Goddess of Art, Friendship, and Sex) that was advertised as friendship, but when I went to RP they shared that all RP ends with public orgies with "real women" *snicker*. I let them know they were all nice people but not the environment I was seeking and left. There are a fair number of ERP guilds in ESO and their existance didn't scar me, make me witch-hunt for possible ERP with minors, or afraid to RP elsewhere.
Oh please, stop trying to label all ERPers and modders as pedophiles or people who support pedophelia. It's gross and offensive.
