What happened in the last week to make people so vocally against the current state?

What Discord? I'm probably going to regret even asking this, but unrelenting boredom can lead to some pretty bad decisions.

It's the biggest one when you look up FF14. Don't go there, you'll get yourself banned rather easily if you dare to have an opinion that a Mod or the mob mentality doesn't agree with.

I was banned for saying that in low level Dungeons they should let the tank pull as they're still learning. I was attacked by the mob and the Mod muted and banned me because I was a troublemaker even when I was being cussed out and harassed by numerous users. It was easier to punish me then those that were breaking the rules. That and a few of them were buddies with the mod. Naturally the other Mods looked at the logs and backed their fellow Mod. The unofficial WoW discord has that issue too.

For me it is no apparent changes to the relic, I would really like an option to do something else other then tomestones. I also just haven't been impressed with Endwalker in the slightest as an expansion due to the lack of real lasting content and the story being in my eyes rather boring.

...imo a few users who have multiple accounts have also had an impact on the culture, successfully pushed a lot of white / bright knights away, and empowered some of the dark knights (not all negative feedback is dark knight...). That isn't to say the feedback is meaningless, just that I feel Palpatine has taken over the senate, lol. I actually enjoy some of the threads even as they have humor, and do share viewpoints in between the chaos, just that it appears to me they have had a cultural impact. They're Endwalker story in action - dynamis and all... and this is Ultima Thule.. lol

Memery aside though, it seems like only two or three people have done the multiple account thing. One of them will lean into it whenever someone calls them out, but the other two deny it vehemently despite everyone and their mother already knowing the truth. I don't think they've impacted the culture too much, given nearly everyone knows what's up.

Nothing new. There have always been veteran players, especially on these forums, vocally against the current state. They were in Stormblood. They were in Shadowbringers. They are in Endwalker. And you bet they will be in 7.0!

As you would expect, some veteran players have gone through all of the content they are interested in and are now bored, or were attached to how things used to be and miss it and are now like "back in my day things were great, now they are different!".

Meanwhile newer players don't care so much about a lot of these things yet, except the ones who come from WoW and compare it to WoW too much.

Let me start off by saying that I agree with every criticism I've read. I run one of the largest and most active FCs on Cactuar (one of the largest servers)

You must be joking. The forums are always full of negativity and criticism that would make any developer trying to read it click it off immediately. There are those of us who try to keep criticism fair and reasonable and maybe that got through on a particular day you checked, but guess which posts get all the Likes here? Negative ones.

Like I said, I AGREE with all the criticisms, but one thing I noticed is that all these long posts about the current state of the game seem to have come in the last week--so I'm wondering, why?

There was an interview by Yoshi-P to a Japanese website where he confirmed the third relic step would be yet another 1,500 tomestone grind. Which is nothing. What is the point in doing Mount Ordeals for weapons? When you see anyone with a previous relic, you know just how much work they put in. Not so for Manderville weapons. It essentially confirms that all the relic steps will just be tomestones.

Imo titanmen has always been around. It’s that the game is losing support from a lot of players and even content creators due to EW’s content implementation and decisions with the relic. So the critics, myself included, have become more vocal and the defenders slightly less.

Give me content where I don’t just hand in tomes, can repeat hard 4 man dungeons because the rewards are good, and develop an island with interesting mechanics and social elements and I would probably be defending it.

A lot of content feels half assed. I did praise Aglaia a while back because while it does have its flaws you could tell it wasn’t half assed.

I think most are happy. The forums are a severe minority and the Discord isn't official and it's run by a lot of bad people.

The official, non-official discord that's tied to the main FF14 subreddit?

Yeah, the rules there are incredibly vague so the moderators can do whatever they want. A lot of rules come down to "No controversial x" or "No controversial y" and then mods decide on a case by case basis what is and is not controversial. I'm still in there and it's not rare for me to peek in there and see moderators acting on something while letting something less than 5 lines apart that is incredibly similar slip by.

Watch who is posting and when, and not just what is being posted, and you'll find that a lot of old posts are being stirred up (and new ones started) by a small number of people.
