New job bad.
Diversify old jobs good.

So far, many hints point to Geomancer, even while Scouting is obviously the armor class most deserving (there are only 5 melee, opposite 6 ranged, and Scouting is the only armor class with only a single job).
Ultimately, though, there are enough people who are happy to reduce all 3 melee roles into 1 even while treating the 2 ranged roles as entirely separate and with short enough memories that we could likely see whatever added, short of a healer, and people would be fine with it.
How to really mess up the job reveal, regardless, though? Don't sufficiently hide that it's the same template as every other job in its role, merely reskinned.
I'd like a focus on improving current jobs like everyone else says, but I don't see them not adding atleast one job because of how much interest new jobs garner.
Since we're expecting such a visual overhaul in 7.0, there is an increased chance of them also focusing on tweaking the battle system, but I don't expect it. We'll probably not know much more job-wise until the Fan Fests begin.
Ah people asking for more diversity- here is my answer to OP then lol: "to increase job diversity we made half of the jobs limited".
Personally would like to see some new jobs anyways, and wish best of luck to the nightmare circus that is balance when you have it bound to meta-centric content (imbalances are not as important for msq but ha ha ha if you're talking about savage and ultimate like content).
They should honestly stop caring about balance that much (SB balance was more or less fine), anyone who is raiding week 1 or Ultimate should have the capacity to flex multiple jobs.Ah people asking for more diversity- here is my answer to OP then lol: "to increase job diversity we made half of the jobs limited".

I'm not sure what gives anyone this impression based on an announcement of the graphics overhaul. This is false hope, as it is crazy to think that such massive reworks to the game's infrastructure would take place simultaneously. C'mon guys. Get real. Yoshi expressed more of a concern about where to go after the level cap reaching 100. There would also be no reason to announce the reworks to AST and DRG coming with 7.0, as such a change would affect all existing jobs in the game. The devs would also have to acknowledge that there are huge issues with the current design of PvE, I think everyone here knows exactly where they stand in regards to this. Sorry to dash everyone's hopes of this, but at this stage in the game the best you can hope for is 8.0.
As for the topic at hand. I personally have never been disappointed during any job reveals. I tend to set my expectations to zero, and just see what they've come up with. I am hoping for a job that uses a whip, and don't really care if it is ranged or melee. I've made my predictions on the next job being a melee using scouting gear in another thread a little ways back and gave my reasonings behind why I feel that way. I have no desire to revisit that topic right now.
I think the only way they can screw up the next job reveal, is by not having one at all. Even though we have plenty of jobs currently, I don't think we are at a point where they can't introduce at least one new job come 7.0. If the time comes that they do decide to rework the entirety of PvE, I feel it would be a really good idea to let the playerbase know as early as possible, and also mention that there will be no new jobs for X.X expansion because they have decided to make this move.
I played Star Wars Galaxies before the Combat Upgrade and New Game Experience, so I am hesitant to want anything even remotely labelled a "combat overhaul". yeah, different companies and all that, but I would rather they fix what we have. put more effort into that and less in to new shiney jobs.Honestly I would love for them to focus on an entire combat overhaul to go along with the graphics overhaul in 7.0 where they make all current jobs interesting again before adding new ones.
They can then afterwards add a new class during post 7.0 patches as theyve done before with Rogue/Ninja and Blue Mage respectively
Sage in the Tactics Advance games did not know any traditional White Magic at all except for one. Raise for TA, Esunaga for TA2. Other than that their spell lists were just Blind, Water, Aero, Gigaflare, Bio, Ultima Blow, with Drain for TA and Scathe for TA2. Doesn't sound like the traditional FF3/FF4 Sage either. Which may have fueled their desire to do something unique for FF14 since half of the games didn't share the same setup for Sage, meaning there was no real consensus on how Sage was supposed to be.
Puppetmaster/mascot or Corsair are the ones I want both really fit into scouting catagorys which we only have one of
and for the love of Lucifer, make warrior a true berserk that its entire rotation goes around maitening beserk or atleast add in a REAL BERSERKER AND THEIF
honestly every job needs to be remade outside summoner to fit the definations of WHAT THAT JOB IS.. i mean non of them include blackmage plays like the other games including ff11 which is online. none of them really play that great for what they are...
I mean Ninja in past games wasnt a basic naruto weeb job. It used scrolls and throwing weapons to preform abilitys wasnt basicly a magic mele job lol
Seriosely I think they need to replay older ffs and redesign 95% of the jobs to fit what they are
