I don't think Shadowbringers was that bad. It's Endwalker that is really really bad in retrospect. Zodiark should've been the Lv90 trial, and Endsinger Lv100 or even Lv110. Fighting against the primal cosmos of the universe is fine if there's build up.

Sorry but Shadowbringers was the expansion that started with the whole Ancients and shards mess. This is obviously subjective but I very much dislike when stories move away from its own focus of the world to focus on the grandious cosmos. This is the same story trap that fell with WoW in Shadowlands and why people started to really get sick of them trying to up the stakes and ante with their writing. And FFXIV is starting to do the same. I honestly couldnt give two cents of The First even if the concept was interesting. I hate how instead of exploring more of Etheriys, we keep focusing on shards and Ancients and all other nonsense that obviously would be better explored much later after we've found a firm grip with the game's natural world.

Funnily enough, the Convocation members were ripped straight from the Occuria and the Scions of Light from FFXII which includes Venat.

Only Venat actually, we only had two named Occuria, the leader Gerun, and the heretic Venat, while other Occuria do appear, they just hang out around Gerun being mysterious, you are correct in that the Convocation names are taken from the Scions of Light, but since there were 12 Lucavi/Espers, we have two exceptions being Elidibus, who was named after Zodiark's host in FFT, and Azem, which is the only original name.

I actually have a random theory that Azem's real name(as in the person whom WoL is a reincarnation of) was Guran because of this, as that would mark down both Azem as being named after both named Occuria.

According to the list, we've encountered Lohgrif the Transcendent (counterpart to Belias the Gigas), Mitron the Chastiser (counterpart to Chaos, Walker of the Wheel), Emet-Selch the Angel of Truth (counterpart to Zalera the Death Seraph), Fandaniel the Protector (counterpart to Hashmal Bringer of Order), Nabriales the Majestic (counterpart to Cuchulainn the Impure), Igeyorhm the Martyr (counterpart to Shemhazai the Whisperer) and Lahabrea the Abyssal Celebrant (counterpart to Mateus the Corrupt). I think in an interview they mentioned that one of the Ascians that Gaius dispatched after he gone rogue was called Pashtarot the Knight-Star? But I need to look that up.

I will Su*********** ALL OVER shadowbringers....but no, I get what you are saying.
Because now we are exploring the other shards and stuff, we are losing out on other interesting stories we could have had on The Source. And to replace that, now we are going full anime and fighting Satan and God. Which could have waited a little while longer. I think because of crap like this, we lost out on what could have been a great Story with Garlemald, without going FULL Cosmos.

But now the Stakes (MMmm Stake) are going to have to keep raising now that we have gone beyond the Grounded Ceiling.
Hopefully the story stays interesting and doesn't get to ridiculous and stupid. Im invested and ever curious where we are going. But I see the dangers in the writing now that we are at this point.

Quite frankly, I perceived the Void storyline to be an attempt to ground the narrative while keeping at our current power level, because while, yes, the Void is another shard which means another whole world so on so forth, it is also an aspect of the lore that has existed since 2.0, and while I wasn't around to see it, I expect since 1.0, we just know far more about it now than we ever did before, and while I can agree that knowing too much about something can remove the sense of wonder and mystery from it, there is also the argument that to explore something is driven by the desire to know more about it, and that desire must be satisfied.

We shall see, I do agree with what you are saying. The Team here has done pretty good: not Perfect, but pretty good with the Narrative.

Nope. Never heard of it. After having looked it up its a 2000 game made for PS1 only, so no, never having had a console Ive never seen it or heard of it...alongside thousands of other console games I have never heard of or played.
