How can you type this when you go off in incredibly ragey, almost always exaggerated with dubious claims tangents and provide 0 citations for anything you say. It's even more frustrating when looking at how The Elder Scrolls Online handles its own housing system. For starters, every house purchased is account bound and comes in a variety of sizes and styles. Once purchased, the owner can take a break for months or even years and return to the game to find everything perfectly intact.

A stark contrast to the unfortunate decision to rid people of their houses if they dare to take a break from the game for longer than 45 days at a time without logging on.

Even WoW, with its garrisons - which admittedly aren't player housing as such - takes a similar approach. You can take a break for years and return to find the garrison exactly how it was left.

Man, are people still trying to pretend the game is fine as-is? Seriously? Good hell, folks. It ain't that hard to admit a product has some problems. It's not a personal attack on your honor or whatever.

Yes. Unfortunately that seems to be precisely how they view criticism of the game and their response in turn keeps FFXIV stuck in place, unable to move forward because their presence in discussion amounts to:

- defending the game on the basis that X game is worse
- endlessly trying to steer the conversation to one over phrasing and semantics
- "I got mine, tough luck" attitudes
- references to the majority being ok with it, as if that somehow is supposed to be a quick bandaid against negative said about the current direction of the game
- asking so what are *your* solutions then? only to then throw them back in my face when I explain in detail what I'd like to see in an ideal patch

As yet you have provided no proof or cause to show that what you want will be doable, workeable, welcome or in any way acceptable to the gaming playerbase as a whole. That you believe that what you propose is "good for the game" lacks any cohesive backing, nor does it, as has been said, take into account that your ideas may not be what anyone but you wants.

It's honestly better to ignore Vel, most people already do that, they just cant stop raging and every time any sort of complaint is made agaisnt FFXIV, they'll make a massive rant via a giant wall of text about how the game is perfectly fine and that wow is worse, it's something else really, there's white knights, then there's Vel, another league of their own, but it makes for good entertainment

And it succeeded. The current housing setup is incredibly predatory, but it's also very smart. It preys upon a number of known cognitive vulnerabilities to keep people subbed even if they aren't actively playing.

No one is claiming that you silly billy. People are becoming discontent at the state of the game currently, you can go onto reddit and see people outside the forum complain about it too. Saying the majority of people find it fine is a claim you can't really back up either homebro.

How many years did SE have to fix the housing issue again ? It's been since the beginning that it was a failed system.

Also if you dont think auto demo is built in to keep subscriptions, then what is it for ? Do you really think SE doesnt have the means to fix housing if they wanted to ? It's obvious that you dont care about housing, and that's fine, a lot of people do, and a house is a big deal to them, and if they dont have it they'd rather quit permanently than come back to the game without it. Auto demo and housing is MADE to keep people subscribed, and it forces people to keep an all year subscription even if they dont play the game, because if they care about housing in the slightest, they wont leave as they wont be able to get their houses back, especially if they are mediums or large.

That house was never fixed, the FC was never contacted, and it got HUNDREDS of reports, and the house is still up to this day, with the furnitures glitched into the house on the top, completely clipping in their garden and removing like 50% of the area that that plot has.

It's a shame, too, because Yoshi-P is on record citing WoW as major inspiration for FFXIV itself. My personal theory is that a lot of people are - quite rightly - disappointed with the direction WoW took and so are replacing one MMO with another only to be entirely oblivious to the fact that the exact same problems that led to WoW falling into disgrace are occurring in FFXIV as well. Particularly a lack of innovation, abandoned game systems, questionable storytelling, predatory business practices and incredible aggression thrown at anyone even slightly critical of the game's trajectory.
