What's your ultimate goal in an MMO? What would you like it to be in FFXIV?

Sets of Armor, each part requires something different.

EG: Helm - NM Drop
Body - Dungeon Drop
Leg - Craftable
Hands - Quest

ect ect.

I would also tend to like certain things that need unlocking.

Senses of achievement is what matters to me.

Almost the same, i define a set of equip as my goal, i don't care when i'll get it, that is the road to get to it that i enjoy the most (the people i'm with, the fun we get together). And when i get a piece of the equipment, there's a sense of achievement and i put my goal higher. badly actually, my only goal is darklight stuff, and waiting 2.0... not to much.

I want to kill the hardest things to kill, and be the first to kill them as well as the fastest and best at it. I want to run raids that only the elite can complete, defeat open-world HNMs before anyone else, earn the best drops from the most difficult dungeons, and overcome any endgame challenge that is thrown at us.

The timeline varies depending on content; some things I'd like to last a couple years, while others I'd be satisfied with lasting merely a month or two. There needs to be a balance to keep people from getting frustrated, but also keep us from getting bored.

I basically want work with my friends to earn a reputation as one of the best endgame LSs whilst joking around on vent.

Have a fully populated friends list with people I talk to on a regular basis.
Have fully populated Link Shell List full of people I talk to on a regular basis.
Have personally succeeded in giving cookiees to each and every person who deserves one.
Meeting Hildibrand and becomming his side-kick or partner!

...and enough content for the duration of the journey, lvl 1--cap (whatever it may be), the journey to endgame should be as rewarding as the endgame itself.

Awesome loot is where its at for me, sadly this game is pretty lacking in that department so far.

Darklight being the exception though.
