How do you all deal with stalkers?

I frankly never got a stalker, but I also purposefully limit my interactions with people, if someone sends me a /tell with a question or asking if they can ask a question, sure, but anything remotely personal, I will stand directly in front of them, hit /busy in their view, stand there for 10-15 seconds, then move away, the /busy will stay on for at least half an hour, or however long it takes me to remember to take it off.

I used to "go all out", name shame and all, until they realised too many ppl knew how abusive and creepy they where, that always "helped" me, but I am facing a different issue where I don't want to do this, so I ask you all, what would you do? Or do you have any experiences with stalkers where I can learn from you?

Put them on ignore and if you have multiple stalkers from everywhere, then the problem may be with you, don't take yourself out of the math puzzle either.

However if you did get an actual stalker, first of all tell the person you are not interested or whatever, if it is bad report if harrashment is involved and best of all use the ignore feature in the game or blacklistm though am not a fan of that, also if you react to it you may bring unwanted attention, just don't bother with the person at all and do whatever you like to do, yes it may not be easy, but hey it is just a dork sitting somewhere out of reach anyway, and if it is your neighbor on the ward you live on, then just being outside playing with the marketboard or whatever does not count as stalking.

Finally don't break the ToS, would only get you in trouble.

Ask them to please leave you alone when they first become a nuisance. If they continue, blacklist and report. Continue to report if they continue to attempt to bother you.

Just remember that another player that you've had problems with in the past being in the same area as you does not constitute stalking. They may have legitimate game play reasons for being there and it may only be coincidence that you're there at the same time. If they continue to follow you from zone to zone as you do random content, that is worth reporting.

That's kind of a double edged sword. I have friends who use that to keep track of people who have harassed them, just in case they change their names and try it again.

Unfortunately, it's a double-edged sword that's cutting your friends on both sides.

First, it's feeding into their paranoia that the other player is going to continue to harass them. Second, it's turned them into a stalker as well now that they feel a need to keep checking that player's Lodestone profile.

It's really not necessary. If a problem player appears, blacklist and report. If the player has been previously reported for harassment, even if a different character on the same account, the GMs will see that in the account record. If the player is using a second account, tracking a character on the first accomplishes nothing.

This game is the absolute worst for dealing with stalking. Between the lodestone link not changing, and the fact that the game is very all or nothing with any privacy features it offers.

Do you need to set it back on each time you log in again? Can nobody whisper you while busy?

They can /tell you, but it won't show on your end, it will also automatically rejects friend requests, couldn't tell you for certain if it stays on between relogs, but I imagine it does, because it's your search status.

Report, block, ignore. Do as if they don’t exist. Answering, stalking them, engaging in any way with them only encourages them to continue. They want reactions and if they don’t get any, they’ll eventually lose interest.

This is THE way to deal with it and yet some many refuse to do it and always gives the troll/stalker the satisfaction but having to let them know they are annoyed.
