That's kind of a double edged sword. I have friends who use that to keep track of people who have harassed them, just in case they change their names and try it again.
Its obvious why letting stalkers track their victim via lodestone, even after region change or name change, is a bad idea, let alone the friend list keeping them there as well, it's not a double edged sword, its a red carpet for victims to be followed anywhere and everywhere

Blacklist and forget them. Even if they change servers or their name, they will remain blacklisted and unable to talk to you on their main character.
If the harassers are in the same world region, your friends can data center travel there and /blacklist instead of letting the harassers live rent free in your friends' minds and browser bookmarks. They wouldn't have to do anything at all if they had used blacklist as soon as they ran into trouble makers.

Are you deliberately ignoring the part about how it allows the victim to track the abuser as well so they cannot change their name and come back, or did you miss that part? Pretty sure you've never actually had stalkers or harassers in this game (which in all honesty is good for you), but stalkers use free trial accounts to keep up with their victims, or just use alt characters to bypass the blacklist, I would know as I got played by a manipulative ex in this game and I got played by him faking multiple characters on both his main account and multiple alt accounts, even post break up. It's not hard to make a trial account or make another alt character.
There's no double-edged sword behind it.
It isn't necessary for any given player to track another player's name change. The only thing a player needs to be concerned with is whether the behaviour is occurring in the first place. A GM and any relevant parties to that will be able to track this and sanction as accordingly.
Whilst this theoretically means that a player can 'worm their way' into your circles and repeat such, etc., the benefits of a static lodestone link do not outweigh the possibility for maliciousness. Static lodestone links pretty much openly facilitate both stalker and witch-hunting behavior (if you elect to track such), to the extent that if people so wished they could outright blockade another player from certain communities entirely.

Some do and some don't. I haven't had them but I've had friends that had. Trial characters are limited in a lot of ways. I'm not saying that doesn't happen, but it hasn't happened in any of the incidences of stalking or harassment I've seen.Pretty sure you've never actually had stalkers or harassers in this game (which in all honesty is good for you), but stalkers use free trial accounts to keep up with their victims, or just use alt characters to bypass the blacklist, I would know as I got played by a manipulative ex in this game and I got played by him faking multiple characters on both his main account and multiple alt accounts, even post break up. Blacklist them and ignore them. Also ask your friends not to share any personal information with them. I learned that hard way when online stalking developed into real life stalking.

Become so unlikable that nobody would want to stalk you anyway. Works for me.
