Couldnt have said it any betterI don't care about any sob stories posted here-if you're not using a house, you don't need it. Feel like a lot of people here (rightfully) complain about how hard it is to get a house, but then some finally get it, don't use it, and then turn around and act big spitting in the face of the people who are still trying by going "its no ones business what i do with my house" you're not doing anything with it. You can't even be bothered to go inside it. We see these threads every lottery. People devastated about losing. We see people hoarding whole wards and agree how unfair it is. You're not any different because you're only hoarding one house instead of 10. If you cannot stand to even step inside your house one time in two months, you cannot stand your house. Let it go to someone who will enjoy it, unlike you.
And no, these people don't need any more bells and whistles to remind them to come step in. You get notified 3 different ways. If you're so busy that all 3 of those don't work, then you're too busy to have a house.
I kind of empathize with this post though. I use my house, but in the way that 90% of the time I idle in the yard and chat with friends there, rather than the inside. The exterior and its location are just as important to me. I don't see why people are arguing against a simple login popup telling them about demolition when its close.
I can understand that. But would you also not pay attention to any of the 3 ways the game already notifies you that your house is about to be demoed? Probably not, because you’re hanging out there already even if you’re not inside much.I kind of empathize with this post though. Unfortunately on the overcrowded servers, auto-demolition is the only hope most people have of seeing any new plots open up. So some people, understandably, get upset when they see houses not in use when they’re desperate to have one. The expectation is that if your house actually matters to you, you’ll 1, use it, or 2, pay enough attention not to lose it.
Yet another reason I really wish they’d create an instanced housing system… so much negativity that could be easily eliminated. *sigh*
While I think that you fairly lost possession of your house, I do think that they should place an unavoidable Warning pop-up in-game when you login, that you have to click "Yes" to then be able to even move or do anything, telling you that you have 15 days to ENTER your Estate or it will be Automatically demolished.I know there's a thing in the timers menu (which almost nobody actually checks)
I made the mistake of buying 999 dark matter from my (former) house's junkmonger that essentially got rid of my need to go inside for the time being as I've only been raid-logging recently and have my character parked in Limsa so my house got auto-demolished.
I think it's pretty weird that we don't get any in-game notice upon logging in if our houses are under risk of auto-demolishing soon. Having e-mail be the only notice is unreliable as I bet a lot of people use a secondary email address for games and either don't check it regularly or gets flooded over by all of the spam gaming sites send you.
It's also strange to me that you have to actually go inside your house to reset the timer, a log-in should suffice.
tldr; My house got auto-demo'd even though I've been logging in every week, can we get an in-game notice so it doesn't happen again.
This way you get notified and its annoying, it should do this every 30 days that you don't enter the Estate, as it'll be annoying and may prompt some people to let go of an inactive Estate.
Then why even have auto demo ? Barely any house will auto demo, and people ignoring their house except to step in every 45 days will keep their houses, what is the point ? Do you really need a house to never use it at all except to cancel auto demo ?While I think that you fairly lost possession of your house, I do think that they should place an unavoidable Warning pop-up in-game when you login, that you have to click "Yes" to then be able to even move or do anything, telling you that you have 15 days to ENTER your Estate or it will be Automatically demolished.

Also people wont just relinq their house because of the pop up, they'll visit it and then go back in 30 or 45 days to cancel it again, you think too good of people, housing has scarcity and people wont just give up their houses, they know if they relinq they are not getting another again except if they move to Dynamis (except Seraph)

Which is nice to think but people are loathe to give up things they consider to be "theirs", especially if they'll be hard to get back if they later change their mind. While I think that you fairly lost possession of your house, I do think that they should place an unavoidable Warning pop-up in-game when you login, that you have to click "Yes" to then be able to even move or do anything, telling you that you have 15 days to ENTER your Estate or it will be Automatically demolished.

I want to thank this thread for highlighting the shittiest people on the forum. OP, I'm sorry about your house, and hopefully SE implements an in game notification. Ignore the Karens, and good luck in the lotto!
"Player didnt use their house, and their house got auto demo'd"
oh no anyways, why should anyone care again ? There is a line of hundreds to get houses, that might make better use of it than them, so why are we shitty people for calling that out ? I'm all ears
Not seeing any Karens in this thread so not sure why you're throwing that word around.
SE has already implemented an in-game notification. They also send out of game notifications. More notifications won't solve the problem when a player is ignoring the ones that already exist.
The easiest way to avoid losing a house is to use it at some point when you're online. Once a month is enough. Is that really asking so much?
