    It's not that easy. Many people I know go from one server to another to get the items they want at a cheap price.
    So even if its not present on your current server, you'd still have to compete with pricing of the other servers.

    I think SE did a mistake here.

    That's generally only true of big ticket items or when buying in large bulk. If you're spending hundred of thousands, or even millions of gil at a time, then yes, people will shop around. But on the other hand, relatively few people are server hopping just to save 2k on a single stack of ore.
