So are you say supply>demand shift>popularity? Supply most important and popularity least important.^ supply and demand. If you are interested in brainless pre-calculated solutions or if you want to get the detailed calculations this discord channel has it: https://discord.gg/overseascasuals

I think he's saying "don't worry about it - go on that discord and do what it tells you for mass quantities of cowries."
By the time you are rank 10, your island is mostly self-sustaining. I check that discord and pop in some combination of Tues/Wed/Thurs/Fri to set up my workshops, set rest days, gather from my pasture and cropland. I leave it alone Saturday through Monday. The last time I had to harvest anything by hand was when the rank cap went to 12 and coconuts and... multicolored somethings became available. I probably spend less than 10 minutes/week on my island - mostly due to Overseas Casuals.
You can also do this thing called "Crime Time" where you setup your workshop with forecasted recommendations for 2 days between Tuesday and Friday. Then use the recommendations for Friday through Saturday. You essentially go to your island on Friday - and that's it. Nothing more. Setup your workshop for Saturday to Monday and then 2 of Tuesday through Friday. Pickup/refresh your granaries, get your pasture/cropland items and craft food. Then back 7 days later.
