So the sprouts die because of the mentor, who is expected to excel at over 100 instances. No fault of the sprout or any other non mentor player in the instance.

How about being responsible for your own progress and / or performance? No? Alright, my bad

I get that if someone makes a mistake and dies then it would be a reasonable expectation for a mentor to give some form of advice so they know what to do next time, sounds like from OP that any deaths/wipes are on the mentor even if after the fact they explain why it happened and how to progress. That's even assuming the sprout will even listen or understand the wall of text trying to contextualise specific machanics.

The mentor system in general isn't fit for purpose and either needs to be scrapped or rebuilt from the ground up as something else entirely.
