how did we at a place where diablo4 is more of an mmo that FF14?

Sadly from what I heard, a lot of that crew is no longer at Bethesda, with a number of them leaving before Skyrim was released (which may explain why that game is not good).

A combination of a lot of things

Changes in staff, a lot of copy-paste and massive changes in gaming industry budgeting (a lot more spent on visual assets, voice actors etc instead of story).

…that and Morrowind is basically just Dune, so it had a good base story to work off of.

Hey, we don't diss Morrowind or Oblivion in this household...but Skyrim is free game.

TBH I'm kind of surprised they didn't face lift those titles like they did with Skyrim multiple times. All the Skyrim rereleases kind of reminded me of Street Fighter 2...

Street Fighter 2, Street Fighter 2 Championship edition, Street fighter 2 turbo, Street fighter 2 turbo championship edition, Street fighter 2 hyper fight, Super street fighter 2...

You'd probably find more people playing Morrowind and Oblivion after a visual update as many of these newer gamers seem to refuse to play titles with PS, PS2, PS3 era 3D visuals.

After playing the beta this weekend I guess I don't see the MMO aspect of it and I get why Blizz isn't billing it as an MMO. There is an online world where you see people from time to time outside of town but really I never talked to anyone other than one time we emoted at each other. Otherwise I went about playing D4 like every other Diablo game, as a single player experience, and frankly had a fun time with it.

You could replace every instance of Diablo with FF14 in your text and it would still sound fine. Its not about "Diablo is a better MMO", but Diablo feels more like an MMO than FF14, or at worst it doesnt feel different than FF14 and in that case neither is an MMO
