Not that it helps you since you already did it, but you can get things like fur and leathers from bicolor gemstones in the expansions since they were introduced.Tonight I just sat down and gathered (and hunted) for every crafting material needed for every single craft that it'll take to make all the tools to crystal.
I'm not sure when I'll sit down and DO the crafting, but I'm ready (including, I think, enough materials to get the 7,000 white scrip I'll need).
Of the 8 crafting tools, the weaver tool is the one that was the most pain to gather for.
40 monster drops in the first, 120 monster drops in the second, with the second monster drop being rather rare.

You think I wanted to spend about 750 bicolour gemstones on monster drops? That's what, 4 or 5 HOURS of fates? The monsters took me 2 hours.
That wasn't an oversight, that was an intentional choice.
Carpenter is nice for making the white scip, both ingredients of it's top white item are from the same place (thul), and it has no monster drops.
Course I've gotten the achivements for gathering with botanist now in endwalker, I'm hoping there's one where all bits are mining bits so I can settle into a nice grind and get those achivements.

Yeah the armillae are my go-to for white scrips. Pancakes and draught also work well if you run out of the other mats.
Best return on monster drops if you want to maintain stores for crafting is a hunting retainer. And it sounds like you got lucky on monster drops because I've had some take a lot longer than 2 hours when I had to go that route.

Trick was finding the best path through the places they spawned and keeping my DPS high to rapidly take them out, and perhaps a lot of luck.Yeah the armillae are my go-to for white scrips. Pancakes and draught also work well if you run out of the other mats.

So today I finished the offhand greens and I'm making the HQ materials needed to make the crystal items.

Out of curiosity, which mob drops are required for the relic grind? I think I'll start sending my retainer after them if I can so I will have plenty on hand for whenever I decide to do one or more relics. You think I wanted to spend about 750 bicolour gemstones on monster drops? Send them out for Almasty Fur, Ophiotauros Hide, and Petalouda Scales and you'll be covered
