Tonight I just sat down and gathered (and hunted) for every crafting material needed for every single craft that it'll take to make all the tools to crystal.
I'm not sure when I'll sit down and DO the crafting, but I'm ready (including, I think, enough materials to get the 7,000 white scrip I'll need).

Of the 8 crafting tools, the weaver tool is the one that was the most pain to gather for.

40 monster drops in the first, 120 monster drops in the second, with the second monster drop being rather rare.

Good news! If you want a grind, almost every other game on the market offers one.

Personally if I find myself out of things to do in the game, I simply do something else than playing the game. It's pretty weird to be unable to figure something else to do than playing ffxiv and needing a grind to tide you over instead. A game that can be actually played casually and doesn't require to self lobotomize and embark into a grind is refreshing imo.

Not that it helps you since you already did it, but you can get things like fur and leathers from bicolor gemstones in the expansions since they were introduced.

Grats, Gemina! Onward to the relic grind!
Thank you! No relic grind for me right now though. After grinding out so many scrips for two weeks I needed to jump over to something different to avoid burnout. Plus, I depleted all my resources for churning out collectables for white scrips. I shifted my focus back onto PvE and completing Sophia Unreal and Rubicante EX. However, I did start putting the new gear to work with gathering pure glioaethers and crafting the expert recipes so I can make a Smaller Otter Water Fountain for my house. I also crafted some i610 gear for my alt jobs that badly needed upgrades. Oh, and food too. I really enjoy crafting food recipes for some reason.

Funny thing about the scrip grinding though is that I was really enjoying gathering from node to node for collectables for gatherer purple scrips, but took the recommended spear fishing route in La Noscea for Earthbreak Aethersand to save some time. I like it so much that I went back to it to get the materia X's I needed for melds, and I still do it to cap those scrips out instead of Custom Deliveries which I always apply towards crafting scrips. What can I say? It's fun for me xD

Anywho, for those who are either doing this grind or pursuing the relic I do wish you guys good luck and happy grinding. I did do the DoL/DoH relic grind in ShB for my specialists and FSH, and will likely do the same for EW. Just a little later.

If you can't look at another white scrip, a break is definitely a good idea. The relics only use white scrips and we have to buy the base versions after the first quest. Plus an item we used for crafting along with our normal materials and bait for fishing.

I was kind of hoping the second half would use purple so things were a bit more even.

Just have my BTN to finish and then done until the next step.

You think I wanted to spend about 750 bicolour gemstones on monster drops? That's what, 4 or 5 HOURS of fates? The monsters took me 2 hours.

That wasn't an oversight, that was an intentional choice.

Carpenter is nice for making the white scip, both ingredients of it's top white item are from the same place (thul), and it has no monster drops.

Course I've gotten the achivements for gathering with botanist now in endwalker, I'm hoping there's one where all bits are mining bits so I can settle into a nice grind and get those achivements.

Yeah the armillae are my go-to for white scrips. Pancakes and draught also work well if you run out of the other mats.

Best return on monster drops if you want to maintain stores for crafting is a hunting retainer. And it sounds like you got lucky on monster drops because I've had some take a lot longer than 2 hours when I had to go that route.

Wait a second let's see q in takes few seconds to a min even as tank, typical run on fast is around 6-7mins 60 mins in a hour
10 dungeon a hour 24 hours in day.. So if you run dungeon 6min speed constantly that is around 240 dungeon a day if ur up from 00:00 to 24:00 which is possible... So maybe you could make up a good grind

Out of curiosity, which mob drops are required for the relic grind? I think I'll start sending my retainer after them if I can so I will have plenty on hand for whenever I decide to do one or more relics.

Send them out for Almasty Fur, Ophiotauros Hide, and Petalouda Scales and you'll be covered
