You can go and get them and sulk at the same time. I'm a pro~ (I'm looking at you Halitali gathering nodes)
It is unfair having to go back and synth recipes which we have already done. Its not fair we are having to repeat things which were tedious enough the first time round. Im sure this will be fixed at some point. For some reason the achievements relating to Gil and kill count were not reset when the achievements were released neither were the local or regional leve count. So i think that the gathering and synth achievement count should be given back to us and the rewards that go with them. I dont know why this wasnt fixed sooner.

nothing was "reset", they never tracked them to begin with(to have been reset they woulda needed to keep track of it to begin with)
kill counts were tracked for an old lodestone achievemnt, as were leve count
gil was NOT tracked, and it was set to 0 when it came in for everyone too
gathering and crafting was also never tracked
SOME of the achievemnts(materia) were tracked from when they added materia even though achievemnts were not in yet(they were already seeding the system for it at the time)
they didnt track it so their is no way to go back and do anything about it at this point, if it was going to be done, it woulda been done asap after they released it

Ok thanks i didnt know that. But i still think its pretty unfair having to repeat. Luckily not all of my craft and gathering is capped so i might go for a few of these items cant see my self trying to get them all im sure better things will come when they implement AF and tools for DOL/DOH.

I really like that the achievements start out at 0%. It just would have bummed me out to be handed achievements for things I've already done, when I want something to achieve and work on NOW. I like to see numbers go up.. I loved skilling up in XI. :x I love to see a number start at 0 and slowly, with lots of time and hard work see that number capped. It's the only thing that's really satisfying in XIV for me right now.
I'm happy to have something to achieve... Working from the very beginning. :3

Accept your loss and move on. I wanted the tools at some point but I just can't be bothered starting from 0 again. I'll get them eventually by just making random stuff I need or sell. It's not like these tools are superomgawesomegamebreaking so you're not missing out on anything.
The Hammer is a solution to everything.

Well I can see your point, I kind of have to agree with Inaaca. Think of it this way, lets just say on average you would complete 300 synths towards the first two achievements just while leveling. This means that John who did this prior to the introduction of Achievements has technically done 600 synths to achieve the same level of progress as Jane who has done this after the introduction of achievements and only had to do 300.you sir, are stretching
there is no advantage
there is only 1 fact in all of this, we ALL started at 0 progress after the patch came into effect, noone is redoing any achievment, no one had credit for the achievemnt ahead of time
yes some people can earn it AS THEY LEVEL, but that is by far not an advantage at all, thats just something they get to do on the side
Thats not even considering any crafting done for gear/items you would have made for friends or to sell, etc. And while all these numbers may seem small its just the concept of having to do something over again. It wouldn't be any different really than if when they released achievements they made it so we had to go kill all of the NM's all over again.
NM's killed, levels gained, items obtained, crafts completed, it's all the same. It's all time spent and if they were going to carry over progress for one they should have for all of them. But I suppose as you have mentioned, it may not have been possible if they did not in fact have a means of tracking these things in place that they could go back to.
But at any rate, it is what it is and it's not going to change. So if you want the Luminary's then there is nothing you can do no but get to the grind!![]()

Achievements that are time consuming and sometimes tedious? This is definitely the first time that has ever happened in video game history.
Does it suck that progress pre-achievements wasn't tracked? Yeah but I'm guessing these achievements weren't part of the original plan so the old team didn't put a way to track them in the game. It really only sucks for people who were playing before the achievements were introduced and even then, it should be easy for you all to get over. You know what also sucked for people who have been playing for over a year? Having to re-learn how to play the game every time a major change is introduced. Or how about dealing with an incredibly shitty launch? Yeah, lots of things have sucked for the people currently playing but we get over them and move on.
