Both play pretty much opposite to eachother.

    Dragoon:
    • Being a melee job, it feels more involved in fights, especially because of positionals.
    • You’ll need to mind the multitude of jump abilities you perform. They briefly and dangerously lock you in place.
    • During their burst phases, they are very busy with a bloated number of abilities to be used in a short amount of time.
    • Besides for Battle Litany, you can ignore your teammates completely.

    Summoner:
    • Simple to a fault, it arguably gives the most laid back experience out of all jobs in the game.
    • Because it has next to no hard-cast spells, you feel as free as a bird on the battlefield.
    • Their burst phases are pretty lax with buttons to press.
    • If you like to feel helpful to your group, they have access to Resurrection and that one Phoenix ability.

Not entirely true, apart from Dragon Sight

Edit: The only jump that will actually lock you in place is Stardiver. Geirskogul and Nastrond you can adjust your placing in mid air. Same goes for the aoe, most of them you can adjust your landing mid air.

I was simply offering quick insight to OP. But you, Mr./Mrs. Pedantic, felt like correcting me on such an insignificant part of my post that I feel no other reply so perfectly encapsulated my feelings towards your waste-of-internet-data input; Big whoop.

I forgot to mention, OP. Be wary of dragoon. They call it a floor tank for a reason.

I've dived into so many AOEs...

And I corrected what was wrong in your post. If you are giving out information, then at least get your facts straight.

It's not really pedantry since Dragonsight should always be used on a teammate unless they're all dead, thus you cannot ignore your teammates aside from Battle Litany.

It's actually really common for DRGs to ignore that part of Dragonsight ever since they allowed it to be used without targeting a partner.

Anyway, pedantry would be what I'm about to say with regards to SMN.

Even though it only has 4 hard cast spells, two of those casts are 3 second casts/recasts which lock the SMN in place for a bit longer than usual. They are tied to the same phase as its melee dash. This phase is actually somewhat restrictive for SMN and breaks its ranged contract. (Though the fiery book thwop of justice is hella cool imo)

I’m sorry if I offended or confused you all but I don’t generally know what to do?

It kinda narrows down to how you like to play, if you like the more melee feel then dragoon would be up your ally, or if you liked more ranged attacks then summoner would be more your style. Both classes are really good in my opinion.
I'm a dragoon main but I have level'd both classes from lvl 1 and I honestly feel like dragoon was more fun to level than summoner, because summoner has a lot of tiny summons along with kind of boring attacks (from what I remember anyway, this is just my opinion though and of course it's different for everyone.) On the path of straightforwardness, I feel like in the beginning dragoon was more simple than summoner but as the levels got higher I felt like summoner got a lot more simple, because at the moment it kind of has a simple easy rotation. Dragoon has the same too, but summoners is extremely straightforward.

If you want my unbiased opinion I'd say go for dragoon, maybe the levels in the beginning are a bit boring and slow but dragoon definitely does give you that battle feel. Along with you can jump around a lot, and dodge aoe's or attacks easier.
Also I don't think you made anyone confused or offended, don't worry! ♥
