Recommendation to adjust city distribution?
After Ul'dah inn "maintenance" is complete, begin Ul'dah ward "maintenance" for a week.
See which city gets flocked to next (probably Limsa).
True point, but i think alot of it had to do with we had less mode of travel (just the ferry and anima i believe, which SHOULD have been mildy sufficent, but i'm digressing.) and it was just a hassle to alot of us and we screamed to the high heavens to make it go away...now, we can travel much easier thanks to airships and chocobos, so perhaps a re-implementation of the old purchase abilites would help? Maybe not, but Ul'dah is so cluttered i just send tells to whoever is on my friends list that is bold enough to travel through it...and if they come across something of interest to me, i just pay them back the gil, and sleep in grid.i'm wondering how many people remember that we did have reasons to go to the other cities? it's funny to watch alot of people complain that their cities are dead after supporting the only reason i ever went to grid or limsa being removed.
do you remember recipes that needed guild or master support from the guilds?
do you remember having to go to the guild to purchase abilities?
these things forced people to go to other cities besides uldah, but everyone supported them being removed. don't act suprised now that you get what you asked for and it had unintended consequences.
Why should we all have to leave an area in an MMO, solely due to the fact that the company providing said game can't provide servers capable of the needs of the community.
Everyone wants to hang out in Ul'dah, that's fine.
We shouldn't blame this issue on the playerbase.. I'm saddened that anyone would. This issue lies solely upon Square-Enix. This is something THEY need to fix.
The poster who mentioned New York hit it spot on.
Bring Quality Notorious Monsters to FFXIV!

This is true, habits are hard to break...and the fact is Uldah is *the* place to be. They can link the wards all they want, Uldah will forever be the hub city. The answer isnt "get ppl out of uldah". The answer is "give us stable servers and a more optimized game engine". Those things will come in 2.0, so for now just suck it up or upgrade your pc lol
but the point is the game had something that gave people a reason to go to other cities. people cried it wasn't a good thing to have so it was removed. those same people are now complaining that there needs to be something to make people go to other cities. if they add something to make people leave uldah again people will just cry about it again because if forces the majority to do something that only the minority wants.True point, but i think alot of it had to do with we had less mode of travel (just the ferry and anima i believe, which SHOULD have been mildy sufficent, but i'm digressing.) and it was just a hassle to alot of us and we screamed to the high heavens to make it go away...now, we can travel much easier thanks to airships and chocobos, so perhaps a re-implementation of the old purchase abilites would help? be careful what you ask for because you just might get it.

Yeah, it's either going to be a delicate balance or a complete cluster f$%k, i never complained much about traveling to limsa for blacksmithing, and i'll have an excuse to go back now to finish up armoring. As it was said, the commuinty isn't fully at fault, but they did change alot because we were the ones unhappy, hindsight being 20/20 i bet alot of people who complained are probably kicking themselves. Should the servers be alot more stable, yes, and can they do that if they wanted to, probably. They are probably hard at work for 2.0 and garuda and the couple dozen other things they need to do without hearing "oh yeah Ul'dah's laggy too."...if we ALL want to be in this gaming comunity, and we all want it to work, we could give them a break by spreading out, but that's just me.but the point is the game had something that gave people a reason to go to other cities. people cried it wasn't a good thing to have so it was removed. those same people are now complaining that there needs to be something to make people go to other cities. if they add something to make people leave uldah again people will just cry about it again because if forces the majority to do something that only the minority wants.
