You might be right, a lot of people consider IS an afterthought and the 2 minute burst meta is showing us that buff caps are a thing in the game. It does seem like the current devs are deathly afraid of certain jobs doing better depending on the fight yet allow warriors to destroy most dungeons and eureka so it's really hard to see what is their idea and what are just reactions from what the community is upset about.

Eureka Orthos is just PotD or Heaven on High. We already had this twice. It's okay to bring another, but i also want something new on top. Crit Dungeons alone aren't enough. One Dungeon per Expansion is a no go. One every two patches (Alliance Raid Patch) would be great.
I'm not sore that FFXIV has Solo Content. But i'm tired of the Community for demanding Content like that. If they don't like the Game the way it is they should leave instead of ruining it with their hardcore Casual mindset.
But yeah it might be time to leave for me as well, since the Game is going downhill.
Nobody was demanding the solo content like IS that they put into the game. That was something the devs wanted to put in on their own. Nobody was demanding Duty Support. If you go watch the Live Letters you'll know that they made those adjustments because they asked people why they *weren't* playing XIV and one thing they kept hearing was people were turned off by the forced grouping aspect. So they put an option for solo for the MSQ so we can decide if we want to experience the story solo or do it with friends, because that option does still exist. The only thing completely solo in this game are solo duties, and they've been part of the game from the start.

There is tons of optional content that is group-centric. And you're complaining that you want more group content but then they do bring back group content people wanted, Deep Dungeon, but then you're mad that people wanted that back and SE listened? Make up your mind.

I mean, unpopular opinion maybe but this expac has more stuff than ever that I actually do.

All endgame trials/savage/relic stuff is dead on arrival for me. I haven’t really engaged with Bozja/eureka, don’t really care about relics or trials.

But even if I didn’t really love island sanctuary, I enjoyed my time with it I guess. And I like doing deep dungeon w/ friends… same with crit dungeons.

I wish there were more things to do to hang out w/ peeps. Like, give me checkers or parcheesi in the vein of how we have mahjong. Don’t really need more combat stuff.

I think this opinion is far more popular than many realize, and its one I share. You literally sound like me.

I played WoW 16 years and quit it now for almost 2 years. WoW is more a "game" in the tradional sense I think, and FFXIV is more of a "world to live in." And I prefer it a lot. Id love to see an entire patch or even expansion dedicated to casual content like social clubs, more mini games, glam, more stuff for venues like the dance floor they recently added.

Your opinion isn't unpopular at all. Just most people are in game enjoying this mmovrchatrpg and not complaining about it.

Very good point. It was completely misguided for Yoshida to bring his EQ-inspired baggage into the franchise with FFXIV 2.0. He’s now realized the error of his ways, but it’s too late. We still have a critical mass of people who want the old-school MMO that we had from 2013-2020. When Yoshida chose to change genres so drastically, he should’ve taken that into account. He should’ve anticipated that players would be unhappy.

If Yoshida is sincere about this transformation, he needs to finish the job. No more pussyfooting around ultimates that require a static. No more wasting patch cycles on instanced content that people aren’t interested in. It’s time for FFXIV to segue into a lifestyle game like VRchat and other “metaverses”. Those are the up-and-coming MMOs, and you and millions of others are excited about our new future. He should support you instead of stabbing you in the back by wasting so much time on “content”.

On a side note, when are we getting VR support?

I mean, yes that's definitely a big part of it, but it also isn't the only thing. There's one massive problem that I feel like a lot of people overlook when talking about content design.

It's the fact this game is marketed as a story game instead of an MMO.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. FF 14 is trying it's absolute hardest to remove the mmo in mmorpg. This is pure guessing, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was because of the abundance of hikikomori over in Japan. It caters to the people who who have a panic attack when trying to order a pizza over the phone. Working with that type of audience in mind is going to make the experience worse for everybody else. They are trying to convert an mmo into a single player game, thus making both the story and mmo part suffer. It is impossible to win with this design philosophy. They are polar opposite genres and it just doesn't work. SE is stuck trying to future proof a game in a genre that is literally impossible to future proof. The game will shut down eventually. It won't be soon. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this game pulls a WoW and survives another 10 years. You need to connect to servers in order to access the single player content they're so desperately trying to make. Servers have a cost and eventually the income will be insufficient for server upkeep. There goes your efforts of trying to future proof this game and in that time you're ruined the fun content for everyone else.

It's an online game masquerading as a single player one. It doesn't work and the content suffers because of set in stone design philosophies. There's also the blatant disdain for anyone interested in something more challenging than erp or normal trials. Both from the community and Yoshi-P himself.

It's kinda ironic you're trying to spin up his response in your pst, while the fact that's exactly what Person 2 actually did. If Person 2 comment is as calm and mild as your post, I don't think this forum would turn into the cesspool it is now. Let me fix it for you:

    Person 1: Deep dungeon please!
SE: ok here's a patch that is practically exclusively a deep dungeon.
Person 2: OMG, SE IS SO LAZY!! THE GAME IS DOOM. WE HAVE NO CONTENT. FFXVI ARE SUCKING RESOURCE FROM THIS GAME. THIS IS JUST BAREBONE CONTENT !!!

There, I think that's a more accurate reflection of Person 2.

Boy, project much? Never heard of seeing a bigger picture and arguing for a point that isn't necessarily the same stance that you play in? I enjoy challenge and I participate in the group content every day. I enjoy the solo aspects of this game. Sometimes you just want to chill by yourself. I played EverQuest for over 10 years and various other MMOs over the past 20. I treated an MMO like a job. Sometimes I even do that with XIV when I've got a goal, like polishing off the last of my ARR relics. I'm happy to see a more accessible mindset where we can choose how much we do or do not engage with the game. Not have those choices taken away by restrictive design.
