because viera are a humanoid race = popular
thats it, the amount of people that would fanta to hroth with a fixed hunch is miniscule compared to a viera
Oh we know. Issue is that Male Viera still took entire patches to outnumber Hrothgar as it was. And there's also the fact that, while it would clearly still be niche, Hrothgar numbers would definitely be higher if the devs had put some elbow grease into what they were doing.
I get stuff being popular, but if we're just going to abandon our other content because one thing we made is selling more, then why bother add anything else in the first place?
If popularity is what's going to cause us to always be behind, always needing to beg for scraps, always getting angry at low quality, low effort and chopped off ears, then fuck it. As a dev you'd just be proving it's not worth playing your game outside of your incredibly narrow-minded vision.
Be that as it may, however, that didn't happen because of popularity alone. Fan feedback wasn't the biggest factor. The QA team was. And sure, they focused on Male Viera because "lol popularity", but at least it wasn't entirely due to fan feedback. Because there IS a major difference between the QA team ignoring us versus Male Viera complaining about a slouch after 3 years of Hrothgars doing that and them getting that patched.
Either way, this really isn't the time for a discussion between Viera and Hrothgar. Even if it was, it all boils down to the devs making stupid decisions when it comes to those two races. All I hope is that Femgars don't turn out too terrible. And if they do turn out poorly, that there's a plan to fix everything in the long run. Instead of having to spend 3 more years in a will-they-won't-they situation.

The annoying thing in their current state is that the back pose was corrected but the neck was not, giving them a really uncomfortable neck posture for no good reason. They were way slouchier:

As for people saying why it wasn't fixed for Hrothgar, I assume that when their goal is "beastmen in beastly pose" their artistic tolerance for side-effects is going to be higher than for the very human-bodied Viera having that awkward bowed stance for absolutely no reason. It could also be specifically to go with issues from them curving backwards rather than forwards.
Between the poses and the unnatural face proportions (as highlighted with the new hairstyle, and others to an extent) I feel like they have some general issues and/or weird artistic ideas about body proportions.
The slouching I don't really have problems with since my Hrothgar is always standing up straight in their idle pose. The option to remove that slouch for people who do care would be nice though.
; ; me.
I know which idle pose you're talking about. It's easily one of the best.
But not only is it really annoying to have to deal with it on literally every other pose, the fact that it causes animation snapping really gets on my nerves!
I ASSUME this is because it's a Hyur/Roegadyn shooting pose, but... Yeah, it just makes the hunchback look "not thought through". Also, if the animation isn't obvious, please check the glow on the flowers in the background. Where the gif loops back is way more visible that way, and it'll show that the weird spine snapping isn't where the gif loops.
Fun fact. I sent this over to Square Enix as a bug. The fact this hasn't been addressed at all kind of makes me wonder if it's "working as intended" like they love to say. In the event that it might be such a case, then... pfft. OK sure, a race having awkward implementation is working as intended, gotta love that.
And yet when the WoW devs added an option to fix the hunch for the orcs and trolls, their number almost doubled. Thing is, a lot of people hate hunches for beast races. The only exception is the Charr, but for them, it makes sense since they run on all 4s. Hrothgar do not. They have a human body with human proportions and a beast head (Like Khajit). So when they walk/run instead of a leonine predator charging in battle it looks more like someone who just pooped himself and is trying to rush to the nearest bathroom. (And I am saying this with the most love possible, cause I love Hrothgar to bits, that is why I am criticizing it, cause I want it to be better!)
We asked for 4 years to have the OPTION to change it, even if that option is literally changing one of the clans to stand straight.
As for female Hrothgar, they might have a slight hunch, but nowhere near as bad as the males. I could just point at the Trolls/Orcs in wow, while some have a hunch it is nowhere near as obvious as the males. Actually, I don't have to even do that. Just look at the non-Hrothgar-queen-model-that-is-just-a-modified-Roe-model. While she has a hunch is minuscule.

Y'all are still waiting for this to happen, huh? Would be cool to see.
"Arcanine was always my favorite Eeveelution"
- Someone, sometime, probably
Yeah.., Things be pretty dry rn..,
For good or bad..,
I don't got much to add, so I don't say much except like the things that I agree or find Fair Enough/Respect..,
[and I don't got much to add with the recent topics.., though it is curious to note others findings/knowledge of minor details.]
The time ticks.., [sadly life has curvedclaws.., and I won't be able to attempt the 15th.., unless I get lucky in some form. Far from home.]
Can only hope for some nice fan art/news to drop from the sky..,
Wow - this looks AWFUL. There's a Hrothgar in my Free Company who looks just as amazing as yours, but I'd never even noticed the animation snap. Then again - I never noticed the awful femroe run cycle until I became one. This is absolutely unacceptable from a AAA company's biggest ongoing revenue stream.; ; me.

Oh it's going to happen. It's already confirmed it will xD
What we're waiting on is for it to actually be released and to see which design they'll go for.
It's super noticeable on Machinist. The others are somewhat better because they're already slumped over a little, rather than try to remain upright (PLD, for example, crouches a little bit when the weapon is drawn). But you see it very slightly in jobs like BRD, for example, where there's no such slump. You see it awkwardly snap back into position because it's trying to use an animation not fit for Hrothgar and then force it back to an idle position that is.Wow - this looks AWFUL.
