Enforce ilvl-sync to Alliance Raid Roulettes to put a stop to the Crystal Tower Spam

Not until they buff the rewards of the ones that take twice the time. You can easily spend 40 minutes in the Neir or latest ones. Why am I getting the same rewards for something that can be done in 15 minutes. Just split them into 2 different roulettes, 50-70 and 80-100. Job done.

Splitting the roulette in 2or3 would probably result in even longer queues. If I qualify for 80-90 content but queue for lvl 50-70 content, I am not available to fill the other roulette. It’s better to increase the base rewards of the longer raids to make it worth my time. Atm, I’d probably never queue for 80-90 due to a higher chance of getting the 3rd Nier raid.

I only stayed because roulette was providing me with the last 120 tomes I needed for the Manderville weapon upgrade and I had done all other roulettes. I am never unlocking this raid on my alts (I don’t mind the first 2 and the glamour gear they drop). Reward for that specific raid is not worth the trouble. I would have gladly taken CT over that one.

Congrats, you just found out why people ilvl scum and will continue to do so until CBU3 properly incentivizes not doing it.

Well... taking LotA as an example... I think the highest ilvl gear in game was ilvl 90 tomestone gear when that was added. Pretty sure I remember people wearing Darklight gear into it wanting the ilvl 80 gear for actual progression. So sync that down to ilvl 90 and watch the carnival of carnage become a symphony of slaughter when ppl ignore mechanics like trying to burn the last boss down before the 2nd flare goes off, letting the giant run amok on behemoth, or probably the best of all... the skeletons between Zombie Dragon phases lol.

Still funny complaining about alliance raids when the crystal tower raids is the only raids you need to unlock to continue the main story quest. All the others are optional and not required. Even if you lower your Ilvl you have at least a 75% chance of getting one of the crystal tower raids. They could just remove alliance raid roulette then no more complaints about it. Then just do what I do queue for raids you want to run.

I agree with other posters that iLvl cheese is probably not that much of an issue. The odds are in favour of CT anyway. The other raids are locked behind the completion of the respective expansion (and so is tome gear) regardless of level, they are optional and they require a lot of time and running around to unlock them. As for CT, they are mandatory, people may have to run CT for a relic quest or to level jobs between lvl 50-60. There aren’t tons of ways to get decent XP at those levels and there are fewer roulettes.

Anyway, incentives or not, I am not unlocking the third Nier raid on any alt. That thing not only is too long, it gives me a headache every single time due to its visuals. Unfortunately, it pops regularly on my DC (I then abandon it but I really wanted the tomes this time).

that would require 24 people deciding to queue for the same raid at the same time as there would be no people to fill for whatever is requested. Roulette is for that: fill groups where needed. People would complain that they can never run alliance raids unless they use PF.

Is ilvl cheese even against the rules? I've been playing this game for nearly a decade and I've never once heard it mentioned as abuse or heard of someone being punished for it. I can certainly see why it could be considered abuse, but this thread is the first I'm hearing about people being reported for it.

I don’t use iLevel cheese but I don’t see how a player can find out if someone has used it.

Some people mention health going up when loading but it means nothing. The game snapshots the gear at the moment of queuing: a player can equip the better gear immediately after and would have a full hp bar by the time the queue pops. On the other hand, while I wait in queue, I almost always switch to a crafter or gatherer which significantly shrinks my HP. I switch back to my battle job when the queue pops, sometimes at the last second if I am crafting an item at that moment.

A lvl 60-something player is in lvl 50 gear? Again it doesn’t mean anything. I have one such level 60-something character that is still in post ARR quests. Before she even has the option to unlock the next series of raids (assuming I want to unlock them), she’ll have to finish HW anyway. The 60 tome gear is also locked until she reaches the end of HW. She’ll probably be lvl 70 something by then because it is pretty much impossible to not over level these days with all the xp bonuses. There’s no point even buying better gear from the MB as there is no content to use it on: the game limits her to lvl 50 content as it is tied to MSQ progress.

If you swap from a crafter to the job you queued on right before the last person accepts then you spawn in fully healed iirc. Entering a duty resets you. Occasionally after spawning in you see someone be at max hp and then suddenly miss a lot of HP. That's a sign that they have just requipped gear. I have never heard about someone getting punished for doing so either however.

This "just do content for fun even if it gives you shit rewards" mentality unfortunately doesn't work, even though plenty of people here try to claim otherwise. If it did, V&C wouldn't die in a week. When I was farming glam from Orbonne, each queue took 15-40 minutes in a prime time. Without AR roulette, I imagine this requiring party finder to actually do this, and we all know that 90% of these parties would just do it unsynced anyways.
