Main Scenario Quest - Forever Taken

ok seriously i know SE has a serious lack of logic when it comes to game design but this is just the iceing on the cake, so i just started back on XIV and i decided to mix up grinding and questing, so when i get to the level requirements for the storey like quests i go and do it.

now i jsut got level 34 so i got acces to the quest "Forever Taken" so i start running to Mor Dhona but hold on, what do i come accros on all sides? yep thats right aggessive mobs on all paths that is 20-70 levels higher than me, so there is no way past these at my level. this is around Murmur Rills and Camp Crimson Bark

thanks a fucking lot SE please do something to rectify this. it really pisses me of when you cock block us like this. if your gonna make quests like this for such low level jobs/classes then you gonna have to make them completable.

Some people want a challenge; some people want stuff handed to them on a silver platter. They obviously can't please both parties, so in this case, you lose. It can be done, believe it or not, but if you're desperate, just pay for someone to port you right on into Mor Dhona.

I've been trying to get that quest done today too, died twice already. Is there another way into Mor Dhona or do we have to try and get past those really high level true sight/sound mobs?

Interestingly, when I myself did that quest I did not have that many issues AFTER I made it to Mor Dhona (I was taking a very, very, VERY dumb path)

What way are you trying to take in? There's one through Coerthas that is easier and one through the Black Shroud that god have mercy on your soul. It's in fact EASIER to make your way through Coerthas, run across the entirety of Mor Dhona and tag the quest than make your way up through the Black Shroud dodging a horde of monsters.

But if you really want to take the Black Shroud path, i'd suggest a combination of Dread Spikes, Stoneskin, Featherfoot, Decoy, Swiftsong and Chocobo, however many of them you can get at the same time, and attempt your best to evade aggroing while you make periodic runs to safe spots.

I personally like this challange, though I don't always do it as i'm lazy, it's cool nontheles (and for heaven's sake, TAG THE AETHERYTE THERE when you get to Mor Dhona)

I tried to get there through the Black Shroud and it was soo hard, the only reason I made it was because my PC loaded the monsters AFTER I ran past them

Later I went to Mor Dhona again via the Coearthas and the Thanalan route, and it's actually really easy, all you need is a fair knowledge on how different types of monsters aggro.
Sure, some may say that's not something you usually know when you hit R34 for the first time, but I, as many others, like a little challenge in my game.
Sure, nothing makes you more angry than dying after literally walking to Mor Dhona for 1-2 hours.
But reaching the place for the quest without teleports and a R50 tank making a save route for you is a very satisfying feeling, like making it through 'that' hard cave [insert random name] in an old FF game

I completed that quest. Solo. At level 36 or so, as I recall. Beating it is one my fonder memories in FFXIV.

I think i'll try the Coerthas route. I'm still a little unsure of how to get through but exploring is part of the fun.

I had to run the whole way the last two times, but at least I managed to tag the Aetheryte before being one-shotted ^^

    *Edit*

Tried the Coerthas > Mor Dhona route and got one-shotted again. lol

Actually, there is one path through the Black Shroud that's really easy. It USED to be really hard about a year ago, but the new team changed the mob placement at some point, turning it into a relaxing stroll. Try this:

Head from the west exit of Gridania to Camp Crimson Bark. From Crimson Bark, head NORTH, then west at the next major clearing. (There is some level 50 or so aggro there, but it's not too hard to avoid.) From there just follow the path as it meanders west.

Eventually you'll have the option of following the stream southwest or taking a different (also watery) path northwest. You definitely want to head northwest at that point. Shortly thereafter you'll get to a path taking you to the upper level (near the lake in the far western part of the zone). From there just head around the lake toward the Mor Dhona exit. You will have to drop back down to the lower level again shortly before you get to the zone line, but it's pretty easy to figure out.

Incidentally, one of the "safest" parts of Mor Dhona is the area near the zone to the Shroud.

EDIT: Follow the link below to see a 3-part map of the route I'm talking about. The person who made it mentioned scout vultures at one point along the route, but I don't know if even these are still there. It's not very difficult.

Yeah , the previous post is the one that Ive looked at before my 7th attempt for this quest, and it turned out okay, there werent any mobs that would aggro along that path in black shroud in the route shown from the website. Then when you get to Mor, theres just this big toad that is out of the aggro range. I guess it's also an indication that they are going to raise the cap some day so that you can kill those mofo that once pwned you so hard. GG
