Why doesn't that work? I haven't dug into the details of the ticket policies or anything, but if a lotto winner can buy two tickets what's stopping them from giving the second (or even both) to a friend?

I think they mean they had no intention of acquiring any of the tickets they entered for themselves, and only to give to others.
The original account owner is required to present ID to pick up both tickets.
They aren't holding any tickets back for general sale. The only tickets that will be available for general sale will be those that didn't get sold to lottery winners - which will be very few if any in all likelihood.
I might not have been clear, so let me try again. Using generic numbers here. Let's say there are 10,000 tickets available. 5000 winners were selected (since they can each potentially buy 2, that would be the cap of 10,0000). Let's say of those, 7200 tickets are bought, leaving 2800 leftover. Instead of having a general sale, why not choose new winners from the lottery for the remaining tickets instead of just opening them up to the general sale?
Ah. That makes sense.
I really hope we get clarification on this from SE. Is that 15k number wrong, or is it just talking about the number of pre-sale tickets, maybe? Even if we take ongoing Covid precautions or whatever into account 15k is an absurdly low number for a venue that size. If 15k was really the plan why have it in a massive Vegas convention center at all? Something just feels off about this.

I have never in the history of Fanfest received any of the Fanfest emails.

Congratulations to everyone who got their tickets for Fan Fest! Hope you will have a great time!
For those who weren't so lucky, I hope you have better luck next time! And enjoy the stream from the comfiness of your home!

I got my email! Any suggestions on hotels? Wynn and Renaissance seem pricey, was looking at the Venetian since it's $100 less per night but not sure how easy it will be to get to the convention center.
They haven't booked the entire convention center. The FanFest will only be using part of it.Ah. That makes sense.

There's a transit system that runs through much of downtown Las Vegas. If you go to Las Vegas Convention and Visitor's Authority website ( https://www.lvcva.com/ ) you can get maps and information about where the Convention Center is in relationship to some of the hotels and the transportation options.

Last time I was in Vegas I stayed at Palace Station, cost was pretty reasonable compared to other options and it's not too far from the convention center. There is also a Hampton Inn right next to the convention center too and the prices don't look bad there either for the time frame.
That being said, the Venetian is an absolutely gorgeous hotel and the next time I go to Vegas I am probably going to stay there for a night or two just for the experience.
