This here might genuinely be the single most based thing I've ever seen on the forums. There's a reason it's a meme.
Nothing in their formula has changed in the past 4 years because they don't listen.
Gearing sucks because they don't listen.
Variant is dead because they don't listen.
Eureka is impossible to coop because they don't listen.
FATEs still suck because they don't listen.
Roulettes are still ARR because they don't listen.
We're still doing daily Praetorium because they don't listen.
They continue to cull our Jobs because they don't listen.
Healing sucks because they don't listen.
Mogstation releases suck because they don't listen.
Dungeons are just hallways now because they don't listen.
Housing is still FOMO and sucks because they don't listen.
Adventure Plates are horrible and buggy still because they don't listen.
Open world is still dead because they don't listen.
They think Materia is a good reward because they don't listen.
Everything is a slow mess with confirmation boxes every 2 seconds because they don't listen.
They don't know what engaging gameplay is because they don't listen.
We mod FFXIV because they don't listen.
It's funny how the ones who cry about echo chambers are the ones who are usually getting called out for posting a really bad take or something lol.Ah, I see we're going to be moving goalposts tonight. Aight.
So here's the deal. Whether anyone wants to accept it or not, there are enough people dissatisfied with the current state of the game that it's become fairly easy to find videos, posts, etc. lodging various criticisms against it, many of which are in actuality legitimate by any reasonable standard. The things people don't like will never change if those criticisms aren't given voice. On any given day there are many thousands of posts regarding the game all over various media, which means the odds of any one voice reaching the developers is slim to none. Repetition is a seen as a way of increasing these odds, as is banding together.
"Majority" and "minority" aren't always so relevant as people often believe. If something is just objectively bad, it stands to reason people should be allowed to dogpile on it all they want until it gets fixed. If so many people are displeased with it that the dogpiling goes from small group to a large number, it should definitely be looked at. And yes, the Island Sanctuary is one of those things a lot of people have brought for gripes about. PLD was also something like this, and it got enough traction for them to finally "fix" it, although the way they "fixed" it left much to be desired judging by the incredible amount of negative feedback all over all sorts of media platforms.
It'll never be the majority doing anything, because the majority of players don't actually visit these forums, Reddit, or other such places where they might speak on the game. No criticism will truly be of the majority. Likewise, it will never truly be the majority attempting to repel these "unwashed naysayers," because they too represent a small minority when compared to the total player-base.
I see people on this forum who disagree with each other in one thread turn around and have conversations/agreements on another subject in another thread *all the time*. I feel like "echo chamber" is just a copout of "no one agreed with me, it can't be because I'm just flat out wrong" in most cases lol.
No, they listen to some. I wish they listened to more, honestly I care about the game and I don't want the Devs to overwork themselves. I do want more stuff but it just seems they are at a comfortable place and are resisting changing things up. This is hurting the loyal playerbase much more than the new players.
Here's an example of them listening and implementing IMO:
https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...enturer-Plates
Like can I blame them? No, people want stability. But can I voice my concerns? yes and I will. But I will always make sure to specify examples or point at examples of things that could be done on the off chance they listen. I dislike when people are negative and don't suggest improvements, that means they aren't willing to put in the work to come up with solutions, even if they are bad takes. At least they tried.
I admire Island Sanctuary, its like nothing thats been done before. If people don't like it so be it, but I can appreciate trying a new concept. I applaud that. Deep dungeons are kinda boring, so unless something new other than endless dark rooms with random mobs is created im not sure I'm as excited. I'll still do it, but imagine an open deep dungeon, like a desert, or a forest, or the ocean on a ship. Wouldn't those be much more interesting? The images aren't encouraging. Looks like POTD with a different skin on it. How about something that isn't a deep dungeon? just new zones that appeared with side quests and players just have to decide whether they want to see whats up or not? The volcano area in La Noscea looks cool, maybe there's a dense jungle on top and a cave system beneath. Who knows what could be there?
Either way, I hope for the best in the game.

Most people who take the time to type out complaints about a game on the official forums probably also want the best for the game. Like, criticism exists to bring awareness to the devs so they can improve the game. If we all just sat around in a happy hugbox and only talked about what's good about the game, it would stagnate and die, and it's wild to me that there are people on this forum who seem to have that mentality.
That's correct. I dislike people who complain but don't suggest solutions, but I absolutely get annoyed when people just white knight and say its fine as is. When Devs come in here looking for ideas you know what the most useless comments they find are? "Oh the game is fine".Most people who take the time to type out complaints about a game on the official forums probably also want the best for the game. If I were a dev looking for ideas I can definitely see myself trying to filter those comments out because they are useless. I still think people offering criticism should be respectful though.
Kinda weird that you pay 15 bucks a month just to post on the forums. You know it's OK to take breaks from the game right? Hell even I'm burnt out from the game and only log in once every 2 weeks to keep my ability to post on here. I've really no intent to do ANYTHING other than maybe socialize in the rare moments I do log in. I'm not even done with the story of the last patch. I'm just waiting for the next expansion.
There is only so much we can do..,
and seeing some reactions to my usual refusal to give up the chance that they'll listen..,
I get it that people can get tired from being let down constantly.., AND HARD..,
[and honestly noticed that very much with some users..,]
There is somethings that unfortunately memes will never fully cover or show..,
<Like with Eureka, and other content.., being always in Flux to what a meme or last interpretation of a user could be accurate, or false..,>
I for one probably for ill, or good.., or in some cases a potentially bad reminder to some about the potential failures and pains of the devs to player hopes. Will probably keep pushing the topics.
[and unless it's a complete No, or yes.., are likely to hear others out.., if there is no clear choice in a topic. with the rare few having a Clear choice for and against.]
There maybe games out there that do better in the things we ask for.., but that isnt a reason to jump ship.., specially since it's this game that we want to see grow and improve.., along with the things we already enjoy about it..,
[I for sure would want others to have more to enjoy if possible. and for things to at least work as intended.., so much needs to be fixed.., even if we have to bicker and push over a few misunderstandings or others didn't earn it views..,]
When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.
Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.
We're all paying for this content on a regular basis. I don't see why we shouldn't make our complaints/critiques known. And I say this as someone who is, for the most part, satisfied with the game.
There are many actual problems that go unfixed for years (as listed out by R041). Just because the "majority" (can we even confirm that?) of players are fine with how things are, doesn't mean others don't deserve to be heard.
