also WHY THE HECK ARE PEOPLE SHOUTING ANYWAYS!!!! THERE IS A SEARCH FEATURE THAT PEOPLE SHOULD USE!!! YOU DON'T NEED TO SHOUT FOR A PARTY IF PEOPLE USE IT!!!! YOU CAN PUT YOUR LEVEL 50 UP and say "HEY IFRIT/MOOGLE/WHATEVER I'M IN!!" THERE IS NO NEED TO SHOUT IN THE FIRST PLACE IF PEOPLE USE THE DANG SEARCH FEATURE!

also the search feature does need a little more update! but still...

Because not everoyne is checking search comments 100% of the time to see if someone is doing leveling/Ifrit/dungeons. Shouting can get you people who would like to do those things, but weren't actively looking for a party. I would ask you to take like 2 minutes to think before you post, but we all know you're Rokien. Instead...

"If you don't drop everything you're doing and only use the search function, you're a lazy person! Stop shouting! Don't need content finder! Stop going to Ul'dah! It's your fault!"

'Bout to get a brain tumor reading your posts.

This is kinda what I have been thinking. We could have a Retainer Bell in our rooms and could do all our Item Searches & Purchases through our retainers from our rooms in whichever city we are in. They wouldn't have to link the cities but our Retainer could have a menu..."Which city ward would you like me to search, master?"...something like that. If they wanna add a tax for "out of town" purchases, so be it.

As for the Market Wards. Just get all the retainers out of there (retainers info can be stored non-graphically in the "Inns"), and have the Market Wards be a place where players can stay logged in with their Bazaars. ( except you don't gain rested exp there) and they wouldn't clutter up the streets so much.

Summary: Move Item Search & Purchase to the Inn Rooms.

Market Wards are for Player Bazaars (no item search or purchase...browsing only). Idea: as another gil sink they could have an "Advertisements Board" inside the Bazaar Wards where players can pay to advertise their bazaar items/prices.

It would pretty sweet if our Retainer could model the item we are looking at.

A global shout could be done through a publicly distributed linkshell of some kind. One that limits the frequency of shouts. (say one 'post' every five minutes) Perhaps something picked up as an introductory item to linkshell use that would solve some of the immersion issues with such a thing.

Linking the search counter for wards would go a long way to aleviating ward congestion and gravitation.

Why Ul'dah? Because it is the least runabout (compact) city to acomplish daily tasks. Everything is near to one place compared to the other cities. At least in perception. Lower the price for intra-city aetherpoints in the others.

Retainer in the room would help get some of the crowding around the bell out of the inn.

I think the XI-onry crowd has a hard time grasping how global channels work. It seems to me that they're applying responses they currently anticipate in a system that is far more mature than what we have now. Shouting hits a small number of people. A LFP channel can reach everyone.

Why don't people use the search function? Many do, but the issue is that it is a passive way to find a party, whereas shouting (or a global chat) is an active way to find party members. Given the immediate gratification desired by our generation, you can probably guess which is the more preferred method of recruitment.

Keep both the active and passive methods, but improve on their implementation. I'm all for bringing this game out of the stoneage, so I am pro-global channels the way they are implemented everywhere else (tune in/out option featured).

I just find it extremely ironic that people are always asking for more party content, but the same people turn right the f**k around and say no to things that would help people put together groups.
