The rising event "The calamity retold" but in 2023 for 10th anniversary

Whilst I definitely like the idea, this anniversary is to celebrate a decade since the 'A Realm Reborn' relaunch and I suspect they'll focus on that moreso than the 13th anniversary (1.0) of the game as whole.

Why not both?

One of my favorite things in this entire game (that I wish I could replay without having to New Game+ it) is from 5.3, I think, when you're going through Amaurot with Y'shtola hostage and basically go through all the past events from the game. The part where you fight Estin-hogg and the music crescendo when you beat him and he shoots off into the sky still gives me some chills. Doing something like that for the entire game's story would be an amazing 10th Anniversary tribute, though I'm not sure how they'd do it that wouldn't feel like wasted Dev resources.

But to this day, I LOVED that sequence and still do.

That said, I didn't play before I joined in 2.3, but I've delved into 1.0 lore (Speakers Network on YouTube have a couple great series like Remnants of a Realm and The Rise and Fall series) and whenever I hear Answers reprise it gives me chills. I would love an event like that, or something like any of those things. For all the effort to distance 2.0+ from 1.X, I feel they're still one in the same in some respects. It's like a person who had a difficult past trying to distance from their own childhood or emotions and stuff when the best answer is to accept that part of yourself as well so that you can be a whole person.

I don't know what they'll give us, but I'll probably like whatever it is. Just saying you don't have to be a 1.0 vet to care about what happened before 2.0...

I remember the 1.x version of the game and the possibility we had to start the game as a gatherer since lv1 (which I considered amazing for RP stuff and all)...

About the topic, yeah! I totally agree!
I believe Yoshi Team will do a big live (maybe 24hs streamming?) showing us a lot of stuff hidden or curious things in the game production and the devs since day 1. While, inside game, we get a lot of events like this with nice prizes related to each milestone in this 10 years road.

And... maybe, some annoucements about the future... big reveals like... shaking news... (maybe, new engine? maybe Hroths and Vieras revamps for hats and hairstyles?? maybe new big contents inside game such as blitzball???)

I think events should be for everyone, so they can't really do a retelling of anything ARR or later because there would be new players that haven't experienced it yet. I guess they could make variations based on your progress, but it might be tough to make something coherent that way.


1.0 doesn't exist and most people didn't play it so it's fine to reuse, although the event in question had very little to do with 1.0 really, it was based on the server shutdown event that happened after everyone's character data was finalized and it was kinda a "just for fun" thing for people whose subs were active when they stopped taking subs.

It's not my job to figure that out for them, they can write literally anything. They could actually start on new storylines that don't REQUIRE every player reading a godamn history book to be invested. I'm sick of ARR and the Calamity, it's time to let it die off and we need to focus on new stuff. This shit is more dragged out than a 20 episode DBZ Kamehameha power up mixed with filler. It's almost a meme at this point, Manga are starting to realize it's time to let go of old shit and move on. Time for XIV to do the same.

It's boring, played out, dull. I want more FF Themepark, not more 1.0 memba when.

Start making things both veterans and new players can actually play together that don't require always doing ARR content maybe.
