If vote abandon didn't work you could, however mean it may be, kick the offending player.

Sounds kind of like The Dead Ends party I was in last night. The healer was having a lot of problems with the first boss and first mechanic in there, and we wiped I think four times. Maybe even five. It's just one of those dungeon bosses where the healer has to stay alive if there isn't another job capable of rezz, or it's a wipe. I am of the mind that you should actually embrace the opportunity when the stakes are that high especially if you're the healer in that situation, because they are few and far between in normal mode content.and when that doesn't work and you're trapped in someone's wipekink sesh?
Is your position that there is no acceptable number of wipes that justifies using a feature that is literally built into the duty menu without suffering penalty?
Because, I'm not like expecting to go from the floor to the exit. This was exceptionally bad. This was the first mechanic of the fight **every** time.
That's not a consolation. And how do you know any of the other players left after you did. It's actually a very rewarding experience when players are having trouble, but they stick together and figure out how to get it done anyway. That's what you abandoned bub, and penalty well deserved for it too.I did leave, I also warned the party prior to attempt 5 that I would leave regardless of how the abandon vote went.
My only consolation is the other person stuck in that hell got to leave without penalty.

The impression I got was that a player, or player(s) just couldn't handle a particular mechanic. That's not a reason to kick the player, that's a reason to help them get through it. I believe kicking also requires at least two votes, but anyone can initiate it.
And we wonder why the devs faceroll the content these days, eh?

That built in feature is your get out jail card, but it's not your free get out of jail card. The "Abandon" is the free card, but it requires party majority. If the Abandon motion isn't pass, that means the majority want to stay, how bad you think is irrelevant. You can still choose to leave despite the majority will, but obviously there gonna be something you have to trade off for.
I usually stay in those situation, easy way to get comm for your trouble.
Also those experience are far and fewer between amongst the sea of the typical almost homogenous roulette party. I for one learned to appreciate and stick around to help the party overcome their own hurdles. That built in feature is your get out jail card, but it's not your free get out of jail card. Sometimes you get a run like that. You can put up an abandon but if it fails then the rest of the party has decided to stick it out. You don't have to as well but the game isn't going to let you bail on the team for free no matter how pear-shaped things are. Nor should it.

They should just add option kick self from party.

Exactly. You know ... playing the game years in and years out you would see just about everything. Whenever someone pop up with a thread like this, it's not like I think "this situation would never happen!". While I can understand the frustration I never understand the need to make such a big deal out of something that may happen at most a handful of time of time per expansion.
Well, people don't just comm if you just stay, someone effort might be needed. I normally don't say anything after one wipe 'cause it just make a fluke. If I see it happens again it means people are indeed in a clue-free zone, so I might offer some explanation. If people still screw up than I just put a marker on me and it's follow the doritos time.
Also I tend to play on healer in new content. Between picking up bodies off the floor and tanking the boss with your shield, it helps getting noticed. :P
wouldnt work, some people would purposefully wipe a group just to get the kick. Please introduce a threshold of wipes to allow leaving a duty without penalty.
I'm not sure why it's fair that I should have to choose between a 6th wipe *at the same mechanic* and having a 30 minute lockout.
No amount of explanation, marking a competent player or hopping in the spot of the safe zone of the mechanic made a difference.
Even making the penalty proportionate to the amount of failures would be a start.
