I said current content, not main quest, when i say that it's more how Unukalhai ties back to the Role quest in shadowbringers, none of this is MAIN QUEST but current content at the time, heck even Unukalhai was a side story NPC of the Warring Triad. And his longevity can still be use for the future since we are dealing (now on the main quest) with the Void. all i'm saying is using old characters in new content for flavor like Role quests, Relics, Raids and Etc. and the devs are currently doing this with Hildebrand (relic) and Tataru endeavor bringing back the Skies Pirates, none of those are main quest but still ties old side story npc into current content.

Ok great, how about the Lemures, Radovan, Lofi, Leveva, Sidurgu, Nashmeira, X'rhun Tia...?

It's not all dull, but it is very much quite dull regardless, especially when the combat classes are what the majorty of the playerbase engages with. With many of them having lore directly tied to recent events.

You know what I also got to thinking?

Yes, I would still like more Job-specific quests (even if they're JUST a bit of added story for them). But what if...

...And just here me out on this, because it's a pretty crazy idea...

    What if...

...you introduced a quest-chain that actually required the player to have experience *EVERY* job's story (up to that point)?

Or if that's too ambitious, then perhaps just "crossover" quests?

For example, the Lemures have obviously setup shop in Ul'dah. What if they were discovered by the Brass Blade, and sentenced to possible death. As a Paladin and renowned gladiator, you are willing to fight on their half in trial by combat? After defending them, maybe the Lemures explain they got caught because they were investigating a voidsent they believed was summoned by the Order of Nald'Thal, and believing they had intentionally summoned it, attacked one of their members. As a trusted Black Mage yourself, you are able to diffuse the situation, and learn more about this growing threat.

Honestly, it seems like something that could be a super fun adventure to embark on, as well at a neat little way to give all of the Jobs (thus far) a little bit of love and added story. Not to mention, actually USE the fact that your can play all these different jobs, as PART of the story! Where your time building all these relationships actually pays off.

Like I said, I suppose it needn't be one CONTINUOUS story, either. You could have a number of smaller, interwoven stories. Like my above example, that could be for PLD-BLM-RPR. Maybe another little story could have Gunbreakers and Machinists facing off in a competition to see whose technology is the most impressive. Perhaps , as a Bard, Dancer, and Azure Dragoon, you could help compose a "song" to commemorate the losses suffered by both sides in the Dragonsong War, composing a "song" that includes music, interpretive dance, as well as combat.

I think there are some really cool possibilities there, and like I said, just kind of a fun way to celebrate players investing all this time into multiple jobs, getting to see some familiar faces and what they've been up to, while also giving a little motivation to someone thinking "maybe I should level up another job, but I already have a DPS, what's the point?".

If we cant have job quests I would at least like those yellow quests we got when we hit 80 on the jobs in SHB, those at least added some more small story even if it's just 1 or 2 quests at least its something.

Looks like I am in a minority because whenever I finish a new jobs story quests, I tend to always breathe a sigh of relief lol and I even liked the stories...well, most of them.

I feel this toward some job stories xD Others I've stayed more invested either because I'm biased (meaning the story might not have been good, I just paid attention because something I liked was featured), or because it sparked an interest.

I don't know if you're a minority, though. Several people skip cutscenes and the plot. And it's not like all job quests expand on the lore equally. Some do tend to grow rather dull, others make people want to learn more.

I don't think cutting them out entirely is a good thing. But having a single final quest at the end to explore what comes next and what new revelations we've had certainly has some merit. That way it won't be so boring that you'd want to skip it.

I hate job quests. Maybe I'd care more if I followed the story. But as someone who doesn't play for the story, I found the job quests to be even more tedious running around. The only reason I did them was because there are skills locked behind them. Especially when I was just levelling a job with no intention to play it. I honestly had no idea that people play jobs based on the lore behind them. I just pick whatever job I find fun.

I'm personally glad to be done with job quests. I even find the role quests to be annoying, but at least they're less annoying than job quests, imho.

Can't really argue against this one. I do miss job quests. I felt they added something very important to the world of Final Fantasy XIV, not to mention to the WoL themselves. Many of the job quests even doubled as a sort of history lesson about those who'd wielded that power before, in some cases even others who currently wield it. Understanding how some of the NPCs - Ishgard's dragoons, for example - live and fight is pretty valuable insofar as world building goes.

I really miss my friends from my job-quests (at least some of them). To me they were just as compelling as the main cast.

Particularly the NPCs in the Monk and Dancer lines. Really wish I got to do more with them.
