the fishes don't care about your feelings

Found the person who hasn't attempted big fishing.
Having a ridiculously small catch window (30s-1min) inside another small catch window due to weather restrictions (once every 2 weeks - a month) is pretty much the definition of stress for some people.
Snarky personal attacks lessen your argument.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

Listen, I'm sorry. But acting like anyone that enjoys working towards a big achievement wants a second job isn't nice either.
Some people take a huge amount of months/years to complete the log and it's nice that we can have a bigger goal to work on while playing the game. Putting this on the same level of a "korean mmo" is unfair. And my point still stands: the rest of the game is available, fishing IS optional and being a completionist and disliking grinding doesn't match.
Besides, if you're truly feeling stressed because a fish in a optional mini-game inside a game that offers you other different options... Uh. I don't know. Stop giving so much importance to this kind of feeling? It's not a big deal. Not every feeling we have should have importance. It's frustrating, yes, but in the end it's just a fish.
If you really want a glowing rod there's even the relic, which is far from stressful. And the other *two* gathering jobs.

The normal big fish are usually not that hard to catch. At the end of an expansions patch cycle they add 6 "legendary" big fish, which are much harder to catch than everything else. So while a normal big fish is like a savage raid, the legendary big fish are like ultimate raiding. Just because you do savage does not mean you also enjoy ultimate raids.
So maybe we can argue about that these 6 fish are too hard to catch. But don't change the whole Fisher class and the big fish experience in general just because of these 6 fish per expansion.
It’s a good thing not to answer your enemies. I scarcely ever do. Perhaps Emily is more like me than I am like myself. Perhaps she would rather not answer her friends, even. She keeps it all in her heart.

All i'm going to say is that I find is very funny that people cite realism in a game where you can teleport from one end of the world to another in roughly 1-3 Eorziean minutes, lol.

There are no 30 second fishing windows.
I believe the shortest is just over a minute.
And these are only found in end of expansion legendary fish (when tied to weather anyway).
You apparently aren't approaching Big Fishing with the right mindset. I never go out of my way to g get a window at work or in the middle of the night. Sure, it's taken me forever, but I have caught all 2.x-5.x big fish.

Again - Versatile Lure and Fish Eyes works on every fish except the final six big fish of an expansion (the so-called Legendaries) and Fish Eyes works for the first three expansions, so coupled with the skills that you get as you level the job, the intention obviously is that while some of the big fish are very hard to catch, the requirements can be trivalized once overleveled - with the final hardest fish left as the challenges you can't unsync - sort of like how old extremes and savage raids versus ultimates. And while Mooch Slap, while something to fondly dream of, is probably not going to happen, without a doubt 7.0 is going to introduce more skills that had QoL to make Fishing easier and reduce the time window and other buff window problems. Heck, Makeshift Bait gives you over two minutes of the ability to mooch regardless of fish quality, removing the hassle of skills around trying to get a large (formerly HQ) fish or worrying about the Mooch II cooldown.
I'd love if the timers were more frequent, because of course I am annoyed by waits of 10 or 20 days, and the rng can be low. But I still want this aspect of the job to be challenging and to have this element of waiting for the right times and the rng challenge. It's not like ARR's sight-seeing log where even though I've completed it twice (once before flying was introduced into ARR and once afterwards) I wouldn't mind if that part of the game was changed to match the much easier versions in HW onward that ignores time and weather so that all new players wouldn't have any idea of the struggle and waiting for timers that I delt with.
My problem with the legendary fish is that their canvas ink is so smudgy. I recently caught Placodus (blue rare fish from Ocean Fishing) and the canvas is so low quality
I planned to collected them all canvas to decorate my large's main hall, but this canvas kinda disappoints me![]()

Ugh this is so true. I'm glad they're expanding each patch the ones you can place into aquariums but that so few Big Fish can be placed is frustrating. And the fish prints were a (relatively recent) addition to fix the limited number of aquarium fish, but that they're not only monochrome but blurry lessens their impact. Same with the sight-seeing log paintings, btw. It pains me that only the later expansions have colored vistas instead of the ugly sepia-wash. I sincerely hope that the paintings and prints get the texture upscale in 7.0 and aren't forgotten or overlooked, even if they aren't a priority like character models or gearsets. My problem with the legendary fish is that their canvas ink is so smudgy. Y'all are acting as if the time sink is the only issue, and that there also isn't the huge issue of babysitting and not being able to answer the phone, talk to FC members, nothing. You can't do anything but watch the game, and a lapse in focus or a bad trigger finger could cost you days in real time.
Sanity and health are also the costs of this terrible, unfun fishing system. And yeah, nobody has to do it-- but how the heck are you going to defend content by saying "it's for nobody to actually do-- only people who want to hurt themselves"?
Also, you many people who literally word it like "no, don't ruin fishing!"... Making the minigame not require your constant, perfect focus-- and making it actually fun to do-- isn't ruining it. You also sound like you're throwing a tantrum.
